• <br />i <br />• <br />0 <br />497 <br />SPECIAL MEETING--OCTOBER 14, 1939 <br />A special meeting of the Board of Public Works was held gt 9.-00 A.M. on Saturday, <br />October 1.4, 1939, for the purpose of examining proposed types of bede'to be used in <br />collection of garbage under the contract entered into on the 18th day of August, 1939, <br />with Victor W. DeFrees. <br />The contractor submitted diagrams and cuts of Marion Steel Refuse Bodies manufac- <br />tured by the Marion Metal Products Company of Marion, Ohio. After due consideration, <br />the Board approved this body as being satisfactory under the terms of the contract and <br />and specifications of said contract of August 182 1939. <br />The purpose of the meeting having been accomplished, the meeting adjourned at <br />9 :30 A.M. <br />MEETING--OCTOBER 16, 1939 <br />Regular meeting of the <br />Board of Public Forks was held at 9:00 A.M. on Monday, <br />October 16, 1939, all members <br />being present. Reed 268.00 <br />Scherman Schaus Freeman Co. 712.00 White Consolidated, Inc. 320.00 <br />The Board of `dorks received the following petitions and communications which were <br />referred to it by the Common Council of South Bend relative to proposed changes of <br />• schedules of the N rthern Indiana Railway Company, Inc., to -wit: from Dr. G. H. dross, <br />Secretary of the River Park Business miens Association; the Fifth District Democratic <br />& Civic Club; nineteen members of Post 50 and Auxiliary Post 50 American Lel3ion, and <br />United Automobile Workers of America, Local No. 5. The resolutions will be taken into <br />consideration at the time of any negotiations or conferences with the northern Indiana <br />Railway, Inc. relative to schedules. el <br />A letter was received from the United Automobile Workers of America, Local No. 51 <br />relative to the condition of the sidewalk on SouthFranklin Street south of the railroad <br />between Broadway and Indiana Avenue in front of the old Russ Blueing Company factory. <br />The matter was referred to the Street Department for investigation and report. <br />• The Board approved the plan for proposed driveway on South Main Street to Sears, <br />Roebuck & Company parking lot, subject to the recommendations of the Traffic Engineer. <br />A duplicate plan shall be prepared and filed with the Engineering Department in making <br />request for permit. <br />
