/A petition for the paving of Catalpa Avenue with bricks was received by the Board <br />and referred to the Engineering Department for investigation. <br />/A petition for street light on East Dayton Street between Caroline and Robinson <br />Street was received and was referred to the Electrical Department for investigation and <br />report. <br />RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS, a contract has been let for the collection and disposal of garbage for the <br />city of SouthBend, which contract expires on the 31st day of December, 1939; and <br />�VVHtREAS, it is necessary and desirable to enter into a new contract for the collec- <br />tion and disposal or disposal only of garbage in the city of South Bend for a period of <br />five years, beginning January 1, 1940; and <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary to determine the amount of said contract prior th the <br />fixing of the budget for 1940; <br />NOW.. THEREFORE, be it resolved, by the Board of Publie'ldorks and Safety that plans <br />and specifications be adopted and placed on file for said garbage collection contract for <br />a period of five years, beginning January 1, 1940, and that the Clerk advertise for <br />sealed proposals in accordance with said specifications; said sealed proposals to be <br />filed on or before the 17th day of July, 1939, at 9:00 A.M., at which time they will be <br />publicly opened and read. The following notice was ordered published in the South Bend <br />Tribune on the 5th and 12th days of July, 1939: <br />TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: <br />Notice is hereby given that sealed proposals will be received by the <br />Board of Public 4orks and Safety at the offices of said Board in the City <br />Hall in the city of South Bend, Indiana, at nine otclock on the 17th day <br />of July, 1939, for the execution of a contract for the following work: <br />1. For the weekly collection and disposal of garbage for <br />the city of South Bend, Indiana; <br />2. For the weekly collection and disposal of garbage except <br />during the months of June, July, August andSeptember <br />of each year, and the bi-weekly collection and dis- <br />posal of garbage during said time. <br />3. For the disposal of garbage only. <br />Detailed specifications for the collection and disposal of garbage, under <br />the three alternate plans above set forth, for the city of South Bend, Indiana, are <br />now on file and may be seen in the office of the Board at the City Hall.
