Minutes of the previous meeting were read and ap- <br />proved. E) a 3. ,Gaf ill GilCo. 35.03 <br />AGaf ill Oil Co. 14.60 , Gaf ill OilCo . 429. 54 <br />This being the date set for hearingon Vacation Resolution No. 2500, same being <br />between Louise Street and Roberts Street and between Lot #48 and Lots <br />vacation of alley <br />t49, 50 and 51, Baker-McHenryts Addition, there being no objectors, and no objections <br />having been filed, and the Board being advised of this fact, Vacation Resolution.was ap- <br />proved and referred to the Engineering Department for the purpose of making up final <br />estimate,of benefita and damages. <br />The hours of the telephone operator. were discussed and the clerk of the Board was <br />instructed to notify her that her hours shall be from eight until five with one hour for <br />lunch and from eight until twelve on Saturdays. <br />✓TIr. Because of new legislation, it is impossible to erect any <br />new street ligThts. <br />The Board's attention was called to a letter received by the Idlayor from the State <br />Highway Commission outlining; various rules and regulations in obtaining permits to work <br />on city streets maintained by the Co=-'Lssion. The Engineer was authorized to advise the <br />various departments that are effecte"d. <br />'The <br />matter of signs being erected between the sidej�allc and curb was discussed. <br />Mr. Eloomaw was present. <br />STREET DEPARTIvIEivT: <br />• <br />• <br />• <br />is <br />✓Tir. Zmu�inski was present and was authorized to order one one of sweeper broom fibre <br />from the A. Steiert & Son Company at Ilatfield, Pa. at 9-3/4 cent per pound delivered. <br />VContinuat'.on Certificate covering excavation bond in favor of Robert L. Mir. Beamer was absent. <br />The following concerns were notified verbally that the Board of 'tdorks and Safety <br />would receive waled roposals for the reioval of the streetcar rails on Sa:rple Street <br />between Chapin and Walnut Streets at 2:00 P.I,I. today: Hurwich Iron and I:etal Company, <br />The Main Iron and Salvage Company, TYZay Schneider and Sam Berman. <br />The proposal of Sam Berman was the only one submitted, It is as follows: <br />"We hereby submit our bid of (�55.00) per ton on the street car rails, on <br />Sample Street between Chapin and Walnut Streets.
