329 <br />SPECIAL MEETING September 25,, 1937 <br />• <br />• <br />• <br />Special meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Saturday, September 25, <br />1937, at 10:00 A. M. Mr. Hunter was absent. <br />This special meeting was postponed from regular meeting of September 20th for <br />the purpose of giving a larger number of interested persons an opportunity to <br />remonstrate against Improvement Resolution No. 2490, same being for improvement of <br />a local sewer in Duey Avenue from South Bend Avenue to the alley north of St. Vincent <br />Street. <br />There being no written remonstrances and no objectors present at the meeting, <br />the Board received from those present an expression of their desire for this improve- <br />ment. <br />Decision was withheld until all of the members of the Board could be present at <br />a.meeting and was postponed until regular meeting of September 27th. <br />The meeting adjourned at 10:30 A. Lang Construction Co. <br />144.00 <br />This being the date set for <br />decision <br />on Improvement Resolution 2490, <br />and the <br />result of the hearing at special <br />meeting <br />on Saturday, September 25th, being reviewed <br />with all members present and the <br />Board being <br />fully advised in the premises, now <br />finds that the benefits to the several <br />lots <br />and parcels of land liable to <br />be <br />assessed for said improvement will <br />be equal <br />to the estimated cost thereof <br />and that <br />the improvement is necessary, therefore <br />the <br />Board decides to take final action on <br />said Improvement Resolution and <br />declares <br />same in all things ratified, confirmed and <br />approved without modification. <br />The Board now orders that on the llth day of October 1937 it will receive,open <br />and read sealed proposals for the construction of said improvement at 10:30 A. M. <br />The Board further orders that notices of said sealed proposals be published in <br />the South Bend. News -Times and Tribune on the 30th day of September and on the 7th <br />day of October 1937, according to law. <br />A petition signed by eight members of a Committee was submitted, reading as <br />follows: <br />WHEREAS: <br />The Executive Committee of the State, County and Municipal IAorkers of <br />America, Local No. 54, conferred with the Honorable Mayor and County Chairman, <br />Mr. Hunter, <br />• WHEREAS <br />The matter of establishing seniority in the Street Department was agreed <br />upon and the time is approaching when some changes in this department are imperative, <br />
