3210 <br />MEETING_August 30,_1937 <br />Regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, August 30, 1937, <br />at 9:30 A. M. This was approved and petition filed. <br />Continuation certificate in favor of Sylvester Queer, covering surety bond, was <br />approved. <br />r Contractor's bond in favor of Charles E. Emmons in the Fidelity & Deposit Company <br />of Maryland was approved. <br />i <br />J A petition signed by a number of residents and property owners was presented, <br />requesting that Oliver Street from the intersection of Prairie Avenue and Dubail <br />j Street be projected south through the vacant field now existing to the continuation <br />I of Oliver Street from Bruce Street to West Ewing Avenue. After a discussion, it was • <br />1 decided by the Board to defer action on this petition until its regular meeting <br />October llth. <br />'Communication was received from the Traveler's Insurance Company calling <br />attention to repairs needed in boiler No. 2 at the City Hall. The Board instructed <br />the Clerk to have repairs made by the Bock Boiler & Welding Works. <br />i <br />�A petition signed by sixteen property owners requested that the alley from Huron <br />Street to Monroe Street be improved. This was referred to the Street Department for <br />attention. <br />�A. petition signed by nine property owners was presented to the Board, requesting <br />that Vine Street from 28th to 30th Streets be improved by the construction of concrete • <br />pavement. This matter was referred to the Street Department for investigation and <br />attention. <br />�.Mr. Anderson reported that the Street Department had been instructed to cut the <br />weeds on the strip of land where the Southern Michigan Railroad removed its tracks <br />between Angella and Pokagon. <br />I <br />` The Board,_approved plat of Casmierts Sub -Division of Lot 50 in Jackson's Proposed <br />Addition with the following dedication: <br />CASMIER'S SUBDIVISION <br />LOT 50 JACKSON'S PROPOSED ADDITION <br />The annexed plat of Casmier's Sub -Division is a subdivision of Lot 50 Jackson's <br />Proposed Addition, more particular described as follows, to wit: <br />"Beginning on the East line of Johnson Street, as laid out by the city of South <br />Bend, Indiana, at a point Nine hundred fifty six and twenty six hundreths (956.26') <br />feet North and Thirteen hundred and forty two (1,3421) feet East of the center of <br />section Thirty four (34) Township thirty eight (38) North, Range Two (2) East, which <br />point is the Southwest corner of lot 50 in Jackson's Proposed Addition, thence North <br />along the East line of Johnson Street a distance of One hundred thirty two (1321) feet <br />to the. -Northwest corner of said lot 50, thence East along the North line of said lot <br />50 a distance of Two hundred and sixty two (262t) feet to the Northeast corner of said • <br />lot 50, which point is on the West line of Brookfield Street, thence South along the <br />West line of said Brookfield Street a distance of One hundred thirty two (132t) ft. <br />to the Southeast corner of said lot 50, thence West along the South line of said lot <br />50 a distance of Two hundred sixty two (2621) feet to the place of beginning. All in <br />section thirty four (34) Township thirty eight (38) North, Range Two (2) East, <br />St. Joseph County, South Bend, Indiana." <br />The plat contains six (6) lots numbered from One (1) to six (6) inclusive. The <br />size of the lots and the width of the streets and alleys are shown on the plat in feet <br />and fractions thereof. The North and South alley is hereby dedicated to the Public I <br />for the use of the Public as a Public thoroughfare. Johnson Street and Brookfield j • <br />Street have already been dedicated as Public thoroughfares. <br />
