Mr. Woodward was absent. <br />Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. <br />Claims in the amount of $8,007.37, from the following suppliers, were approved <br />and ordered paid, also payroll of the various departments amounting to $2,244.66. <br />Indiana <br />Bell Telephone Co. <br />$$1.25 <br />Indiana & Minh. Co. <br />67.97 <br />Indiana <br />Bell Telephone'Co. <br />229.61 <br />McCaffery Company <br />3.12 <br />Indiana <br />Bell Telephone Co. <br />.35 <br />Mr. <br />Qualls reported that the <br />request for the installation of <br />street light at <br />Irvington and Dale Avenues could not be <br />granted, as he found on his investigation <br />that other lights in the vicinity <br />are sufficient to illuminate this intersection. <br />(Chief Freeh suggested that now would be a good time to repair the boilers at <br />No. 4 and No. 5 Hose Houses. The Board decided to permit the Edwards Iron Works to <br />repair the boiler at No. 5 and the Bock Welding & Boiler Works the boiler at No. 4. <br />This being the date set for postponed hearing of Vacation Resolution No. 2486, <br />the Board decided to rescind this Resolution. <br />A petition for the paving of South Oliver Street, from the intersection of <br />Prairie Avenue and Dubail to Bruce Street, work to be done by W.P.A. labor, was <br />referred to the Street Department. <br />A petition signed by twenty-one property owners, requesting the pavement of <br />alley between Chapin and Catalpa Streets in the 1700 and 1800 block, was referred <br />to the Street Department for attention. <br />Continuation certificate covering bond of Harry D. Perkins Company was approved <br />by the Board. <br />Chester A. Perkins submitted a blue print of Sub -division of lots 303-- 307 in <br />Charles Weidler's 2nd Addition, which was approved by the Board after being approved <br />by the City Planning Commission. A copy was placed on file in the office of the <br />Board of Public Works and a copy furnished the Engineering Department. <br />✓ Charles W. Cole submitted blue print of Plat of Mary M. Martin's Addition, <br />which was approved by the Board after having been approved by the City Planning <br />Commission. A`copy was placed on file in the office of the Board of Public Works <br />and a copy furnished the Engineering Department. <br />/ Mr. R. R. Smith, President of the Motor Bus Company, was present, as well as a <br />delegation of residents in the southwest section of the City, to discuss the matter <br />brought up at the last meeting of extending the route of the Rum Village Bus Line. <br />Mr. Smith submitted a proposal to extend the line as far as Nash Street and, after <br />a discussion, this was adopted. <br />Upon recommendation of Frederick J. Anderson, City Civil Engineer, the following <br />Vacation Resolution was approved, being Vacation Resolution No. 2489: <br />COPY OF VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2489 <br />RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: That it <br />is desirable to vacate the following: A portion off of the South side of <br />WESTERN AVENUE from the west line of Cherry Street projected south, <br />to Kosciuszko Street, more particularly described as follows: <br />Beginning at a point on the north line of lot 1 in M. Harris <br />subdivision of the north part of B.O.L. 97, where the west.line <br />of Cherry Street produced south intersects said north line of <br />lot 1, thence in a northwesterly direction along a curve to the <br />right having a radius of 1533.13 feet a distance of 222.9 feet <br />to a point of reverse curve, thence in a northwesterly direction <br />along a curve to the left having a radius of 1528.21 feet a <br />distance of 211.53 feet to the northwest corner of lot 1 in <br />Studebaker subdivision of lot 1 Harper & Ruckman, thence south- <br />easterly along the northerly line of lots 1, 2 and 3 in Studebaker <br />subdivision of lot 1 Harper & Ru ckman, a distance of 139.6 feet, <br />thence east_ along the present south line of Western Avenue a <br />distance of 298.33 feet to the place of beginning, EXCEPT that <br />portion of any alley entering Western Avenue that should remain <br />public, for ingress and egress purposes. <br />The following property may be injuriously or beneficially effected by such <br />vacation: <br />0 <br />0 <br />0 <br />0 <br />
