MEETING <br />December <br />7, 1936 <br />257 <br />Regular meeting of the Board <br />of Public Works was held on Monday, December 7, 1934 <br />at 11:30 A. M. All members were present. <br />Minutes of the previous meeting were <br />read and approved. <br />Claims in the amount of $1,782.43, from <br />the following suppliers, were <br />approved <br />and ordered paid, also payroll of <br />the various <br />departments amounting to $3,267.08. <br />Indiana Paint & Wallpaper Co. <br />$3.43 <br />E. This was referred to the Street Depart- <br />ment with instructions to arrange for the work if it can be done with W.P.A. Tabor. <br />The Secretary brought up the question of charges for flushing sewers and <br />reported that in many cases no attention is paid to statements and letters regarding <br />the payment. Instructions were given him to follow all such charges and make <br />collections to the best of his ability until the account is one year old, after which <br />time no further statements are to be sent out. <br />Mr. Anderson submitted specifications for the installation of a new boiler at <br />the Central Fire Station, as follows: <br />• SPECIFICATIONS <br />For placing One New Boiler and Removing Old Boiler Now In Building From The Premises <br />Of The Central Fire Station, South Bend, Indiana. <br />GENERAL CONDITION <br />. The Contractor shall visit building and familiarize himself with the conditions of <br />the entire heating system of the building, so that he -can properly figure on the <br />work to be done, and give no excuse for not knowing the conditions as they are: <br />as the entire job shall be first-class and of the highest standard. <br />He shall furnish an acceptable bond to the full amount of his contract. <br />The contract shall be of the standard form. <br />TO BE <br />The old boiler now in building shall be removed. New boiler, new radiation, new <br />piping, to be changed, shall be as hereinafter specified, making a complete first- <br />class job in every respect. <br />Piping, where radiators and wall coils have the supply, without return. The nipple <br />of return -end shall be removed and return pipe placed in same with trap in return <br />line. The return lines from the radiators shall be welded into the main return at <br />nearest point. <br />• NEW RADIATION <br />Place in rear of the building known as The Workshop. --One new wall radiator, equal <br />to 160 square feet, the 9-section now in room and not connected can be used for <br />part of this radiation; connect to the supply and return now in the hose tower. <br />This radiation shall be placed on south wall with standard hangers bolted to wall, <br />with return end 12" lower than supply end, and provide with supply valve and trap. <br />Remove all check valves and traps now in return lines and place in return line of <br />• each radiator and wall coils and in each bleeder and bottom of each main riser, a <br />Warren Webster bellows, trap of sizes recommended by the Warren Webster Company. <br />Trap equal to these can be used but the City Engineer shall be the judge as to its <br />equality to strength, durability and efficiency. <br />
