207 <br />AMETING March 30, 1936 <br />Regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, March 30, 19360 <br />at 10:30 A. M. All members were present. <br />Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved. <br />Claims in the amount of $408.86, from the following suppliers, were approved and <br />ordered paid, elso payroll for the Street and Sewer Department amounting to $3,735.08. <br />No. Indiana Public Service Co. $1.48 Erwin Blackburn, M. Co. 5.63 <br />Jack Taylor's 21.00 The Studebaker Corporation 19.69 <br />Jack Taylor's 7.25 The Orr Company 127.40 <br />Firestone Auto Supply Store 1.55 <br />Mr. walls submitted a plan for an addition to the Alarm Station utilizing the <br />ground between the present building and the sidewalk. The Board considered same and <br />requested Mr. Qualls to ascertain the approximate cost of the material that would be <br />required in case a T.P.A. project could be arranged for. <br />1!r. walls reported that to offset the cost of the overhead traffic signal at 30th <br />Street and Yishawaka Avenue, he had reduced four street lights in that section of the <br />City but that he had as yet turned out none. <br />Mr. quells also reported having had a conference with the Indiana & Michigan <br />Electric Company in reference to designating such light poles as are definitely out and <br />the Electric Company desired further time to make a decision as to ;how they would like <br />to handle this. <br />Representatives of the Polish Central Civic Committee, namely; Mr. Joseph <br />Buczkowski, Charles Lewinski, Councilmen Bierwagon and Palicki, requested, installation <br />of overhead stop light at Olive Street and Western Avenue which was broken down last <br />year. The Board informed them that there were no funds available for this purpose in <br />this year's budget. <br />The same Committee requested the Board to have the corners of the intersection at <br />Walnut Street and Western Avenue rounded, so as to make it more convenient for turning <br />corners. The Board considered this favorably and referred the matter to the Street <br />Department. <br />The same COYtlmittee complained that the crossings of the I?ew Jersey, Indiana & <br />Illinois Railroad at Ford Street had not been repaired and those of the New York Central <br />at Harris Street and Valnut Street as well and requested action. The railroads have <br />again been communicated. <br />Mr. Fred Christman appeared before the Board on behalf of the Standard Oil Company <br />in regard to making changes in their filling; station at Lafayette and Washington Streets <br />He submitted a plan which was considered and the Board approved same with limitations <br />of the entrances. 1:r.
