Orr, Attorney representing Julius Seeberger, submitted blue prints for <br />a filling station to be erected at the northeast corner of Western Avenue and Chapin <br />Street for the Sinclair Oil Company and requested the privilege of having two openings, <br />thirty feet wide each, on Western Avenue and one opening, thirty feet wide, on Chapin <br />Street. After carefully going over the plans, the Board decided that they could permit <br />but- one opening on Western Avenue and so informed Mr. Orr. <br />I <br />Mr. J. C. Weer, Street Commissioner, reported that men are now being employed, <br />living outside of the City of South Bend, working on W.P.A. projects. After discussing; <br />the matter and considering the views of the Mayor, it was regularly moved, seconded <br />and carried that Mir. Weer notify Mr. Legeman that the Board does not sanction this <br />i procedure and expects immediate discontinuance of the employment of men living outside <br />of the City on W.P.A. projects where the City furnishes the material. <br />Excavation Bond in the amount of $1,000.00 in favor of Ernest L. Longway of <br />Mishawaka was approved by the Board. <br />Frederick J. Anderson, City Civil Engineer, filed primary Assessment Roll, showing <br />awards and damages and assessment of benefits in the matter of vacation of the alley <br />south of Almond. Court from alley east of St. Peter Street to alley west of Notre Dame <br />Avenu:6,,under Vacation Resolution #2484. <br />In the above named Assessment Roll, the Board hereby orders that on the 4th day of <br />November 1935 this Board will meet in the City Hall at 11:00 A. M. to hear and receive <br />remonstrances of all persons interested in or affected by said Vacation. The Board <br />further orders that notices of said hearing be advertised in the South Bend News -Times <br />and Tribune on the 17th and 24th of October and that notices of said hearing on <br />November 4th together with the amounts of damages awarded and benefits assessed be <br />delivered to Property owners according to law.
