MeterSense is a comprehensive Meter Data Management (MDM) system that gathers data from
multiple meter data collection systems, cleanses the data, provides long-term storage with a
robust audit trail of any changes to data, and delivers billing determinants as required. It allows
the utility to:
• Bill in a timely manner, using accurate, reliable data
• Respond to customer bill queries quickly and easily
• Monitor the health and performance of AMI
• Ensure data accuracy
• Ensure date is stored reliably, long-term, and accessible for future access
MeterSense also offers the SmartWorks Compass suite of analytics/autoimation to take
MeterSense to the next level; providing a Utility Decisiion Management solution (UDM) enabling
utilities to maximize their return on investment in their smart infrastructure by seamlessly
converting mass volumes of data into powerful insights and automated actions,
SmartWorks Compass is an AMI/CIS agnostic solution with almost 300 deployments, integrating
with, all major AMU and CIS vendors. Capture of AMI data, processing (VEE), and providing
billing determinants to CIS, analyzing events and alarms, filtering and providing information to
other systems and automating business processes are the core capabilities of MeterSense. The
MDM is structured to support the import, storage, and management of meter data for electric,
water, gas, and other utilities. The system provides core capabilities for storing and presenting
raw data (reads and events) obtained from the AMI system as well as the data through the VEE
process. This means the utility will have access to both versions of the data. It also provides
natural extensibility through configuration of user -defined iteims and attributes. Data (delivered
by the AMI/AMR system) currently stored in MeterSense incliudes:,
• Usage Register read
• Usage Interval read
• Meter Events
• Communications routing data (e.g. tower association or RF mesh routing and Ihop count)
• Voltages and other channel data
The usage data is ruin through comprehensive VEE routines and provides revenue grade data
for billing, MeterSense MDM also provides out -of -the -box capability to record manual meter
reads to handle opt out situations.
