REGULAR MEETING January 8, 2018 <br /> So sorry she had to go so soon, because she was my age, and she could have been here a lot <br /> longer. <br /> Jason Critchlow, 221 Marquette Avenue, South Bend, IN,thanked the Council for considering <br /> this resolution. Mr. Critchlow stated that Ms. Crone was always campaigning, always serving the <br /> community, but she also believed that it did not matter who you were if you were dedicated to <br /> your community—willing to do what must be done, to work with whomever must be worked <br /> with to move the community forward. He stated, That's really the culture that I've always been <br /> surrounded with, so, thank you for sharing her with us, and that's the legacy that I will always <br /> take with me and remember. <br /> None from the public wished to speak in opposition to this bill. <br /> Councilmember Gavin Ferlic made a motion to adopt Bill No. 18-01 by acclamation. <br /> Councilmember John Voorde seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of eight(8) <br /> ayes. <br /> REPORTS OF CITY OFFICES <br /> Representing the City Administration: Suzanna Fritzberg, Deputy Chief of <br /> Staff <br /> RESOLVE INTO THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br /> At 7:24 p.m. Councilmember Oliver Davis made a motion to resolve into the Committee of the <br /> Whole. Councilmember John Voorde seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of eight <br /> (8) ayes. Councilmember Gavin Ferlic, Chairperson,presiding. <br /> Councilmember Gavin Ferlic explained the procedures to be followed for tonight's meeting in <br /> accordance with Article 1, Section 2-11 of the South Bend Municipal Code. <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> BILL NO. <br /> 69-17 PUBLIC HEARING ON AN ORDINANCE TO <br /> VACATE THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED <br /> PROPERTIES: STREET VACATION-EDDY <br /> STREET FROM CORBY STREET SOUTH 180 <br /> FEET+/-, CORBY STREET FROM EDDY <br /> STREET WEST 90 FEET+/-, CORBY STREET <br /> FROM EDDY STREET EAST 230 FEET+/-,THE <br /> FIRST EAST/WEST ALLEY BETWEEN <br /> HOWARD STREET ON THE WEST AND THE <br /> FIRST NORTH/SOUTH ALLEY EAST OF <br /> SOUTH BEND AVENUE, SOUTH BEND, <br /> INDIANA <br /> Councilmember John Voorde, Chair of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee, <br /> reported that they met this afternoon and send this bill forward with no recommendation. <br /> Greg Shearon, Danch, Harper&Associates, Inc, 1643 Commerce Drive, South Bend, IN, served <br /> as the presenter of this bill. Mr. Shearon stated, We are here representing Five Corners, LLC, for <br /> the four(4) right-of-way vacations that were just read into the minutes. The purpose for these <br /> vacations is for future development. Right now,there's no particular plans of what's to be <br /> developed. I believe the property is zoned Residential, so right now what could be developed is <br /> Residential without coming back to this committee for a rezoning. In the pre-board meeting, <br /> there was some mention of the easement agreement that was written for Spalding, a property <br /> 4 <br />
