A. P_. Long, Street Department Foreman were <br />present in the matter of repairing of sidewalks as suggested in the Council by said <br />Altfeld. The Board authorized Mr. Long to purchase cement no to exceed eighty bags <br />and a: total cost for labor and materials not to exceed $160.00. It was decided that <br />the street department should not make any repairs where the repair would require more <br />than a bucket of material or about one cubic foot. <br />The following letter from the Indiana State Prison Department of Industries <br />was read: <br />October 10, 19.33 <br />Dept of Public Works, <br />Street Department, <br />South bend, Indiana <br />Attention A. E. Long, <br />Dear Sir: <br />In compliance with our conversation concerning the repairing: of the street <br />signs which have be eh. purchased from this Institution in 1930. We wish to advise you <br />that we would be pleased to assist you with this problem. <br />We woi:_ld be willing to repaint the street signs at a cost of .05 each, and <br />would dupgest thtt you have these plates painted Yellow and Black Numerals, as this <br />combination of colors seem to give longer life to the signs. <br />And again I wish to state that we are sorry that we cannot refinish these <br />signs free of charge as the time allotted on enamel is only 2 years. <br />• <br />• <br />41 <br />0- <br />0 <br />• <br />
