The Mayor thanked the CCAC for having these meetings. The meeting <br /> of higher education forums and the community is very important. These meetings to discuss <br /> public safety are a priority. He also thinks the campuses and the community are much safer. He <br /> apologized for not being able to stay that he had another meeting. <br /> Gavin introduced Dr. Kelly Jordan from Holy Cross College and let him begin the meeting with <br /> his agenda. (attached) He explained that this agenda would allow them to come up with <br /> solutions and actions to come up with a plan and goals. <br /> He then asked for a law enforcement perspective on the safety issues. Bob Hammer and Jeff <br /> Rynearson from the South Bend Police Dept. were introduced. Jeff Rynearson said he has <br /> patrolled the east side for the past 25 years. This includes most of the college campuses. <br /> Crime stats to date are 8 robberies. They have arrested suspects in the robberies and suspect <br /> they are probably involved in more than 1 of the robberies. The shooting recently on South <br /> Bend Ave, neither involved actually lived at the address, it's just where the shooting occurred. <br /> The crime Think Tank meets every Thursday morning and they go over all the crime stats. <br /> Several police agencies attend. There was discussion on overtime patrols on Fridays and <br />
