South Bend Redevelopment Commission Regular Meeting -January 15, 2010 acquisition to allow for redevelopment opportunities to advance and continue in that area between the Ignition Park campus and the Ivy Tech Campus. Staff requests authorization to prepare plans and maps and related information for Commission consideration of amending the development plan. Upon a motion by Mr. Downes, seconded by Ms. King and unanimously carried, the Commission determined that the proposed amendment to the Airport Economic Development Area is reasonable and appropriate in relation to the original development plan and that the proposed amendment conforms to the comprehensive plan. The Commission authorized staff to prepare and assemble information for consideration of amending the Airport Economic Development Area acquisition list. F. South Side Development Area (1) Status report on Erskine Plaza pond project. Mr. Schalliol noted that the City of South Bend has become involved in a project to reclaim land currently used as a retention pond and develop the site for commercial development. The Erskine Plaza Pond Project is an outgrowth of development and infrastructure planning that will create a development parcel on Miami Street south of Ireland Road and help create new access into Erskine Plaza. The project will also improve the storm water management process in the Ireland-Miami area and will reduce overflow impacts on the existing storm water network and the Erskine Park Golf Course. COMMISSION DETERMINED THAT THE PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE AIRPORT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AREA IS REASONABLE AND APPROPRIATE IN RELATION TO THE ORIGINAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN AND THAT THE PROPOSED AMENDMENT CONFORMS TO THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN.
