A. M. will hear and `receive remonstrances from all persons interested
in ctr affected by these proceedings
Adopted this Ist. , day of April I930.
I -LT. E. Doran
John K. Smog-r
Ralph g. Kuss. "
In the above n«med condemnation resolution No.2332, the* Board, hereby
eppoint s Jacob Ohillas, -Ealph C. Osborn and L. S . Beezkiewicz to act a•ppraisors in
determining the values of damap-e s a m benfit s in the district described in said resolu-
tion.
The following, letter from David C. Raymond, manafrer of the Iunicipal
Air Port, was f ldd:
,.=nrch 31st. , I930.
'
To The onorab le Board of Public Works
Gentlemen:
Relative to the Shockley Flying service account in connection with
rental of 2 hangs- at the Air Port,
i
Last November Z,=r. Borers (m^nager for Shockley) faithfully promised
me several times to have their account p2id by the first cf the year. At the first of
the near he claimed he was not connected ith this company in any official capacity
and Tarr. Shockley was then in Florida.*'i
This account at that time stood $490.00 owing to the city. He had I
been allnn ed to sell ga so line and oil by %,Tr. Kue spert this however is not in their
contract. I had their selling of gasoline and oil stopped but Mr. Bowers used his
high pressured selesmanship and they were allowed to continue selling the above.
I'
This account has now grown to $850.00 on -April Ist., I930, and ;e
are no nearer collecting it than before. I find out now the scheme is for Lux. Bowers
to take over the Shockley interests and from past performances it looks as if the
City is going to hold the sack.
As Tam a.m accountable to 1 you gentlement as well as the taxpayers of the 11
city I feel something: should be done by gray of a_ settlement. With treatment that I
have undergone with rr. Bowers and the subterfugyes he has used thus far I recommend
the City attach their plane to cover the account. {
We had better ?gave a municipal service hanger than play Santa Claus
for a private concern. I am reliably informed that another reputable man (I mean
one who will pay his debts) is redy ana Tilling to step in should the Shockley lease
be cancelled or expires j
Yo ur s ve rT truly,
D. C. Raymond, Direcotr of Air Port."
In the above matter of the Shockley account at the I{lunieipal Air Port,
•
the Board hereby instructs the clerk to advise 11r. ie7, mond to tole this ma tte r up
with the City Attorney and to attach the plane in question until a settlement of this
account is made.
The following proposals were made to the Board by the Progress Club
and by the Oliver Farm Eouipment Company fcr parking purposes:
April Ist., 1930.
l
Bos d of 'Public `corks,
South Bend, Indiana.
Gent lemen•
For the purpose of making a basis o n discussion of renting the propert'y
