This is EXHIBIT A, consisting of 5 pages, referred to in and
part of the Agreement between Owner and Engineer for
Professional Services dated December 21, 2017.
Engineer's Services
Article 1 of the Agreement is supplemented to include the following agreement of the parties.
Engineer shall provide Basic and Additional Services as set forth below.
PART 1— BASIC SERVICES
The pedestrian path along the western side of the East Raceway under the Colfax bridge has exhibited
flooding during both dry and wet weather. There has also been settlement of the concrete walkway in
this area. It appears that the flooding may be a result of a hydraulic connection to the East Race. The City
has requested a proposal from LFA to assess and determine the issues causing the flooding and settlement
in this area, to develop a quote package for a repair, and to perform construction inspection during the
repair project. The City has also requested that LFA perform a structural assessment of a wall along the
East Race.
A1.01 Site Assessment & Survey
A. The Engineer shall review the existing As -Built Information for the East Race.
B. The Engineer shall perform a Site Assessment to review the physical characteristics of the project
area along the walkway and to verify the as -built data reviewed under Task AL01.A. During the
site visit LFA will need the City to shut all of the headgates for the East Raceway and allow the
Race water surface elevations to lower in order to allow visibility of the Raceway side of the
problem. LFA will then have the City Open the gates and then will survey the water surface
elevation at which the flooding of the walk -way begins. This will potentially assist with
identifying the potential flooding mechanism. LFA will coordinate the gate operations with eth
South Bend Parks Department. LFA does not plan on conducting a complete topographic survey
of the project area. LFA will survey the East Raceway water elevation and will use as -built
information to prepare plans for the repair.
C. The Engineer shall prepare memorandum to the City documenting the Site Assessment and
LFA's findings and potential repair.
A1.02 Prepare Construction Documents
A. The Engineer shall utilize As -Built documents to prepare repair plans of the area of the walkway
at the Colfax Bridge.
B. The Engineer shall develop a quote package with repairs and limits indicated on the plans
developed from the as-builts and in supplemental figures as required. The quote package will be
submitted to the City for review and comment.
C. The Engineer shall meet with the City to discuss the submitted quote package and to obtain
comments.
D. Given that his will be a minor project, LFA assumes that no regulatory permits or coordination
will be required
E. LFA will coordinate with the St. Joseph County Engineering Department regarding the work
Page 1
(Exhibit A — Engineer's Services)
EJCDC E-500 Agreement Between Owner and Engineer for Professional Services
Copyright 0 2008 National Society of Professional Engineers for EJCDC.
