657 <br />0 <br />• <br />• <br />U <br />• <br />A petition is hereby submitted to the Board asking for the improvement of Camden Street from Webster St. <br />to Washington Street by the construction of a local sewer according to Barrett Law Program. Petition <br />referred to the City Engineer for investigation and recommendation. <br />Traffic Engineer, Ernest H. Miller, recommends the installation of the following traffic signs: <br />No Parking This Side signs installed on Almond Court, north side, from Notre <br />Dame Avenue to Dedd End of Street <br />No Parking This Side signs installed on north side of LaSalle Street from L.W.W. <br />to first alley east. <br />Stop sign installed on Elwood Avenue, northeast corner, at Portage Avenue. <br />Stop sign installed on Cleveland Road, southwest corner, at Riverside Drive. <br />Stop sign installed on Donald Street, both sides, at William Street. <br />Stop sign installed on Holiday Drive, both sides, at Wilson Avenue. <br />i' <br />Verner L.. Lane submitted to the Board a Certificate of Occupance and Compliance which certified that the <br />Fire Station located at 2404 Twyckenham Drive complies the the Zoning and Building Ordinances of the City <br />of South Bend, and may lawfully be used for the purpose aforesaid. <br />A letter is now received from Mr. Bert Liss, of the Indiana Cab Company requesting permission to move <br />s; two of their present three spaces from the present position at the bus station to the north side of <br />" Western Avenue at the corner of Michigan Street. This would continue service to the public which now <br />uses the bus station locations. Also, to establish two taxi stand spaces on West Monroe Street in front <br />of the new bus station to service that operation. Matter referred to the Traffic Engineer for investi- <br />gation and report back at the next regular Board meeting. <br />Mr. John Kagel, of the Association of Commerce Retail Division, requests permission.to place sample <br />Christmas decoration womewhere on Michigan and Main Streets. Work to be done at night and will not in- <br />terfere with traffic. Permission granted subject to these conditions. <br />I <br />The hearing set for today regarding the Alby real estate wherein the owners has caused the front of their <br />building to overhang onto the city's public property will be continued until next Monday pending more <br />thorough information to be submitted by the Building Department. <br />Upon recommendation of the Building Commissioner permission is hereby granted to the Taylor Construction <br />Company to occupy 20' of Sheridan Avenue along the side of 3921 Western Avenue and close 1st alley East <br />ofSheridan Avenue north from Western Avenue from date to January 19 1957 during the construction of <br />walkway in street. <br />After due consideration concerning the bids of the Sanitation Department, contract for front end loader <br />is awarded to the following company: <br />INDIA M EQUIPMENT CONPANY, INC. <br />Lakeville, Indiana <br />A non -collusion affidavit and a bidder's bond <br />in the amount of $2,000.00 accompanied the bid. <br />One (1) International Model TD-14 with 14K3 Drott 4-1 loader with trade-in <br />Total net price------------------------------------------------$19,897.00 <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2862, 1957 <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment roll showing the award of damages and the <br />assessment of benefits in the matter of the vacation of the ALLEY WEST OF IRONWOOD DRIVE, FROM OAK <br />PARK DRIVE NORTH (140) FEET, under Vacation Resolution No. 2862, 1957. <br />In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances were filed. <br />The Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication of notices and same were found sufficient, and <br />the Board therefore finds that the several lots have been benefited and damaged in the amounts shown <br />on said roll. The Board, therefore decides to take final action on said assessment roll and declares <br />same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved without modification and the proceedings closed, <br />and the alley vacated upon receipt of the amount of benefit assessments from the various property own- <br />ers so benefited and all proceedings had with reference to said vacation are hereby sustained. <br />Pavement plans were approvedfor the Cushing Beale Streets improv ement and also the Lombardy Street im- <br />provement. <br />Scherman Schaus appeared before the Board and requested permission to use two (2) spotlights in observanc <br />of their car sale. Permission granted. <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 2857, 1957 <br />CONTRACTOR'S COMPETION AFFIDAVIT <br />IN THE MATTER relating to the local sewer improvement on Duey Street made under improvement resolution <br />No. 2857, 1957 and the plans and specifications, therefore comes now Cecil E. Dale who being duly sworn <br />upon oath deposes and says his acquainted with Osceola Crane Service the party to whom was awarded the <br />contract and who performed the work under Improvement Resolution No. 2857, 1957. <br />CONTRACTOR'S COMPLETION AFFIDAVIT <br />We hereby certify that the contract between the City of South Bend, Indiana, Owner, and the Cecil E.
