<br />ing a local sewer under Improvement Resolution No. 2857, 1957, adopted July 15, 1957 and first confirmed on.1
<br />August 19, 1957. No written remonstrances against said improvement bearing the signatures of fifty-one per!
<br />cent or more of the resident property owners on said street to be improved, having been filed within the
<br />ten day period following the date and time of the hearing on said improvement, therefore, I
<br />BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana, that Improve-
<br />ment Resolution No. 2857, 1957s, duly adopted by this Board on July 15, 1957, and first confirmed on August
<br />199 19579 be and the same is in all things finall confirmed and the improvement is hereby ordered made.

<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South'Bend, Indiana, that the Pro-
<br />files , Drawings, Plans, General Details, Specifications and Estimates approved by this Board on the 15th
<br />day of July, 1957s, for the improvement of Duey Street from 217 feet north of Howard Street (South) to
<br />Howard Street by constructing a local sewer be and the same are hereby adopted and ordered placed on file
<br />in the office of the Department of Public Works and Safety. September 3, 1957, at the hour of 10:00 A.M.
<br />is hereby fixed as the time and the office of the Board of PublicWorks and Safety in the City Hall of this;:
<br />City, as the place, when and where the Board of PublicWorks and Safety will opene and; considerbids for the;;
<br />above named improvements, provided all bids for the construction of said work shall be filed in the officei
<br />of the Clerk of this Board before 10:00 A.M. of said day. Each bidder for said work shall enclsoe with
<br />his bid a certified check, payable to the Treasurer of this City.
<br />The Clerk of this Board is hereby ordered to give notice by two weekly publications fo the time and place,';,
<br />when and where bids will be received, opened and considered for the construction of said work. Said
<br />Clerk shall state in said notices, that each bidder shall enclose with his bid a certified check or bid
<br />bond for above named amount, to insure the execution of this contract.

<br />A letter was sent to the St. Joseph Hospital regarding the smoke problem in the immediate area of said
<br />hospital. Raymond S. Andrysiak, City Engineer, informed the Board of his investigation at the hospital.
<br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2864, 1957
<br />RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, That it is desirable to vacate
<br />the following:
<br />1. Bryan Street from the East line of Cushing Street easterly a distance of 748 feet to
<br />the easterly line of Lot 265 extended southerly across said Bryan Street.
<br />2. An alley 14 feet in width running in a northerly and southerly direction from the north
<br />line of Beale Street North to the south line of an alley running easterly and westerly
<br />between the eastline of Cushing Street And the St. Joseph River, which said alley is
<br />bounded on the West by the easterly line of Lots numbered 252, 259, and 267 in Northwest
<br />Third Addition and which said alley is bounded on the East by the westerly line of Lots
<br />251, 260, and 266 of part of Northwest Third Plat.
<br />3. An alley, being 14 feet in width east and west, running north and south from the north
<br />line of an alley running east and west between Beale Street and Bryan Street northerly
<br />to the South line of an alley which runs in an easterly and westerly direction between
<br />the east line of Cushing Street and the St. Joseph River, which said alley being vacated
<br />is bounded on the west by the east line of Lots 260 and 266 in Northwest Third Addition
<br />and on the east by the west line of Lots 261 and 265 of Northwest Third Plat.
<br />4. An alley 14 feet in width east and west running in a northerly and southerly direction
<br />from a point on the north line of Bryan Street north to the southline of an alley running
<br />in an easterly and westerly direction between the eastline of Cushing Street and the St.
<br />Joseph River, which said alley is bounded on the west by the east line of Lot 265 and on
<br />the east by the west line of Lot 264 of Northwest Third Plat.
<br />5. An alley 14 feet in width North and South running east and west between Bryan Street and
<br />Beale Street from the east line of Cushing Street easterly a distance of 374.04 feet, all
<br />in Northwest Third Addition.
<br />6. An alley 14 feet in width running in an easterly and westerly direction fromthe east line
<br />of Cushing Street easterly a distance of 1002 feet, which said alley is the first alley
<br />north of Bryan Street and is bounded on the south by the north line of Lots 264, 2659 266,
<br />and 267 of Northwest Third Plat.
