Approved this llth day of March, 1957. <br />Excavation bonds are hereby approved for Colpaert Realty Corporation for the sum of $10,000.00 <br />A representative of the Disabled American Veterans appeared before the Board and requested permission to <br />conduct their annual forget-me-not drive on May 24 and May 259 1957. Permission granted. <br />A-reparesentative of the Lion's Club appeared before the Board requesting permission to conduct their ann <br />"White CAne" sale on the 27th day of April, 1957. Permission granted. <br />Traffic Signs were installed at the following locations: <br />"12 Min Pkg. Limit at this Meter" signs installed on meters (3), <br />north of City Hall Court on east side of Main Street - directly <br />in front of Water Works Building. <br />1112 Min. Pkg. Limit at this Meter" signs installed on first 3 <br />meters east of Lafayette Blvd. on south side of W. Colfax Street. <br />"12 Min. Pkg. Limit at this Meter" signs installed on first 3 <br />meters south of Wayne Street on west side of South Main Street. <br />Stop sign installed on Rupel Street at Wilbur, southeast corner. <br />Stop sign installed on Rupel Street, both sides, at College Street. <br />In regards to a letter received from Judge Olczak with reference to the use of "unmarked cars" by the <br />Police Department in the performance of its duties, reports were submitted to the Board from the Police <br />Chief with reference to same. Placed on file. <br />An agreement was received and approved this llth day of March, 1957 with reference to the transferring of <br />the Dog Pound facilities to the South Bend Humane Society jurisdiction on Grape Road. Agreement approved' <br />and signed by the Board. Placed on file in the Office of the Board of Public Works and Safety. <br />The matter of the petitions of several residents on Fox Street and Hoke Street and also on Essex Drive in' <br />McKinley Terrace whereby they protest for a rerouting of the busses in their respective residential areas; <br />is hereby continued until next Monday, March 18, 1957. <br />Mr. George Weiler and Mr. Ed Lapham appeared before the Board with reference to petition and request the <br />City of South Bend to provide Police traffic safety protection for their school children at the junction <br />of South Street, Twyckenham Drive and Longfellow Avenue during the periods of the day when the children <br />are going to and from Jefferson School. Matter hereby referred to the Police Department and also the <br />Traffic Engineering Department for investigation and repprt. <br />Webster Heating Company requests permission in install a canopy on the alley side of the National Bank & <br />Trust Company. Upon recommendation of the Building Commissioner, the Company is hereby permitted to pro-- <br />ceed with the installation subject to meeting the requirements of the City Building Code. <br />Studebaker Packard requests permission for the relocation of their present fence on North Cotter Street <br />bact to the curb line. Permission granted subject to submitting to the Board an agreement with reference <br />to same. <br />A petition is hereby submitted to the Board from Hartman Brothers, Inc. asking for the vacation of Locke <br />Street.
