VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2828 <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment roll showing the award of damages and <br />the assessment of benefits in the matter of the vacation of Johnson Street from THE NORTH LINE OF WASHING - <br />TON AVENUE TO THE SOUTH LINE OF ORANGE STREET, under Vacation Resolution No. 2828. <br />j il <br />In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances were fil d. <br />• IThe Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication of notices and same were found sufficient, and the <br />iBoard therefore finds that the alley has been benefited and damaged in the amounts shown on said roll. The' <br />1Board9 therefore decided -to take final action on said assessment roll and declares same in all things rati-11 <br />fied, confirmed, and approved without modification and the proceedings closed, and the alley vacated upon j <br />;receipt of the amount of benefit assessments from the various property owners so benefited and all proceed-? <br />sings had with reference to said vacation are hereby sustained. <br />• <br />0 <br />• <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 10:55 A.M. <br />i � s <br />i <br />Attest: - <br />Anthony J/a�,/741erk <br />JUNE 25, 1956 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, June 25, 1956 at 10:00 A.M. (DST) <br />All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Salary claims <br />in the total amount of $34,297.62 were approved. Hartman, Carl H. McClellan, A. J. Blaski, Howard V. <br />ack, Mike Becchelli, H. G. Christman Construction Company, Hartman Builders, and Edward Burton. <br />Excavation bonds were approved for Hartman Builders, Inc., Rieth-Riley Construction Company, O.E. <br />& Son, and Millard T. Hartman. <br />The request of Messrs. Cecil Walters and Earl Wright to operate a small automobile run by batteries <br />land driven by children on the park -way adjacent to the Electric Company on S. Michigan is hereby denied by <br />the Board. <br />Mr. Harding appeared before the Board with reference to request permission to install an awning on a <br />lding at 2221 South Michigan Street and informed the Board that he would follow specifications as stated <br />the Building Code of the City of South Bend, Indiana. The Board now authorizes be granted a permit by <br />Building Commissioner, Verner L. Lane. <br />The awarding of the contract for the bids of the Civil Defense Department for the purchase of 5 desk <br />e base stations will be held up until Next Monday, July 2, 1956. <br />Mr. Frank Adams is hereby given permission to make application for Building permits providing that h <br />onforms with all qualifications as set out in the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend, Indiana. The <br />uilding Commissioner, Verner L. Lane, is hereby ordered to issue said permit with the understanding that <br />aid Adams follow all specifications. <br />The decision on the Miami Street lighting plan will be held up until further notice. <br />The Work Order for repair of the sewer on 29th Street was approved and placed on file. <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 2816, 1955 <br />The Contractor's Completion affidavit and the Engineer's Certificate of Completion on the Pavement <br />mpprovement on Fremont Street from the North property line of Elwood Avenue to the South property line of <br />eller Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 2816, 1955 was accepted and approved by the Board. <br />
