The matter with reference <br />to the purchasing of the base stations by the Civil <br />Defense Department <br />!!was referred to the Advisory Board <br />and said <br />Board is hereby requested to report back <br />to the Board of Public <br />!'Works & Safety as to their recommendation. <br />• <br />• <br />Messrs Earl Wright and Cecil Walters appeared before the Board with reference to request permission <br />to conduct a proposed safety program for children in which the children would operate a small automobile ru <br />by batteries to show the children the need for safety on the part of automobile drivers. Matter taken unde <br />advisement until next Monday, June 25, 1956. <br />Mr. Coy McGee appeared before the Board with reference to request permission for the installation of <br />an awning on a building in the City of South Bend. Mr. McGee is hereby given permission to install said aw <br />ning providing that he conform with the Building as to the proper height and sidth of awning to install. <br />Mr. George Swiatowy, 1701 Magnolia Street, South Bend, Indiana appeared before the Board in respons <br />to notification by the Board to show cause as to why the dust condition on the property owned by said Swia- <br />towy and rented by Marion Trucking Company has not been taken care of as to date. Mr. Swiatowy is hereby <br />directed to have the dust condition in the said area corrected within one week from this date and is also <br />requested to appear before the Board on Monday, June 25, 1956. <br />It is also brought to the attention of the Board of similar condition esixting pn property owned by <br />Mr. Swiatowy and rented to Interstate Truck Lines, General Freight Lines, Mid -States Truck Lines, and the <br />McNamara Truck Lines. The Board now orders that an investigation be made of said conditions and that if <br />such condition exists at the various truck lines that notice be sent to each company to have it corrected <br />within two weeks from this date, and also that representatives of said truck lines appear before the Board <br />on Monday, JU:Iiy � 1 1956. <br />With reference to the building located at 677 LaPorte Avenue and owned by David Scruggs, 677 LaPort <br />Avenue the Board hereby authorizes that the Building Commissioner, Verner L. Lane, demolish,said building <br />as of this elate. <br />
