5. Water is being shut off in the parks and boilers are being turned on. <br />6. The Ice Rink is ready to start on Thanksgiving weekend. <br />7. An energy consumption audit is going to be done at the centers to see what we can do to <br />improve our efficiency. <br /> <br /> <br />IX.Comments by the Zoo Director or <br />1. Mr. DeRosa gave the Board members invitations to the presentation ceremony of the <br />accreditation on November 16. The AZA Executive Director will be here for the <br />presentation. <br />2. Zoo Boo was held last weekend and 4,708 participated. <br />3. The Zoo has been received recognition by the National Wildlife Federation as a certified <br />wildlife habitat refuge. A plaque has been received. <br /> <br /> <br />X.Comments by the Golf Operations Direct <br /> <br />1. Mr. Nowacki informed the Board that the new tee signs have been installed at Erskine. <br />2. The last capital projects are underway. Irrigation controls at Studebaker are being installed <br />and concrete work is underway at Erskine. <br />3. The tree crew planted 109 trees at the courses this year. <br />4. Leaf clean up is underway. <br />5. The irrigation systems are being blown out for the winter next week. <br />6. Studebaker is down to one employee and concessions at the courses are day to day. <br />7. The Erskine wellhead inspection was done and was passed. <br />8. At the recent NRPA Congress, Mr. Nowacki attended seminars on marketing golf in <br />today’s economy. <br /> <br /> <br />XI.Comments by the Marketing Director <br /> <br />1. Mr. Bradley reported that they have been meeting with media outlets to reestablish <br />relationships with them. Meetings have gone well. <br />2. The Department is submitting award nominations for the Chris Wilson Pavilion, the arts <br />program with the IUSB and the Centers, and the “Bouncy” program with the Indiana <br />Parks and Recreation Association. <br />3. The Convention and Visitor’s Bureau has announced that next year, the Urban Adventure <br />revenues will be going to the Department. <br />4. TGI Friday is partnering with us to provide items for programs and events. <br /> <br /> <br />XII. Comments by the Recreation Director <br /> <br />1. Flag football ended last week. <br />2. Registration for River City Basketball has started. Thirty-five teams are now registered. <br />This is the largest fall league. <br />3. The Fall Family Fun Fair at Rum Village was held recently and over 3,000 attended. <br /> - - 3 - - <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
