• 0 0 • • MAY 21, 1956 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works & Safety was held Monday, May 21, 1956 at 10:00 A.M. (DST). Mr. Raymond S. Andrysiak was absent. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Contractor's bonds were approved for M. E. Walters, Contat Lumber, Inc., D. Paul Rousculp, and R. M. Rathwick. Excavation bonds were approved for Burton Plumbing & Heating Company, Inc. Yield Right of Way signs were installed on Chimes Boulevard, both sides, at MacArthur Street. Stop signs were installed at the following locations: Marine Street, both sides, at Eckman Street Huey Street, both sides, at Roger Street Kentucky Street, both sides, At Jefferson Street. A letter was submitted to the Board by Thomas Miller, Captain of the Civil Air Patrol, request ing permission to have a "tag day" on the downtown streets on Saturday, June 16th from the hours of 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Permission granted. A letter was submitted to the Board by Verner L. Lane, Building Commissioner. Accepted and placed on file. A petition was received from Mr. Hungate and others for the re -surfacing of Esther Street from Jefferson Street to Bader Street. Petition referred to the Street Department. The Declaration of Plat of Swanson's replat of Lots Numbered One -hundred forty-six (146) throu Lot One -hundred sixty (160) both inclusive, as shown on the recorded plat of North Shore Terrace Addition to the City of South Bend, together with the vacated alley lying between lots One -hundred forty-nine and One -hundred fifty in said addition was accepted and approved by the Board. The Clerk of the Board is hereby directed to advertise for Five Desk Type Base Stations to be purchased by the Civil Defense Department. Mr. Metalloof the Ward Baking Company app@#red before the Board with reference to request per- mission for said company to hold a motor parade on Wednesday, June 27, 1956. Permission granted subject to working out arrangements with the Police and Traffic Departments.
