Ewing Avenue, for permission to <br />conduct their annual carolling by P. A. method throughout the residential districts <br />i'Iduringthe Christmas Holiday seadon to gather funds for their humanitarian activities. <br />i;The Board granted this request. <br />The Board next authorized the issuing and release of Purchase Order No.BW8960 <br />covering paint job for the office of the Inspector of Weights & Measures. <br />The Board next examined contractoris affidavit supplied by Jacob Paschen showing i <br />°:all bills for labor and material in connection with sewer construction Contracts 5A and <br />5B, are paid in full and discharged without exception. Affidavit was ordered filed. <br />The Board awarded the Rieth-Riley Construction Company contract for the improve- <br />`'ment on FREMONT STREET, from Elwood Avenue to Keller Street, by construction of Class <br />rrC" - Type 3 (1" Bituminous Surface, 2" Bituminous Binder, 3" Bituminous Base) Pavement, <br />'under Improvement Resolution No. 2816, with completion date of 225 days. <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: <br />j H. M. Tomlinson, Street Commissioner, being present,suggested that the Board <br />;'.accept the letter of James A. Kell, under date of November 13, 1955, in lieu of a <br />;;written report from the Street Commissioner, relative to the status of the area fenced <br />i'in the 600 block north Scott Street. No report was made concerning a like situation <br />!on Cushing Street. <br />i! <br />The Board examined and approved specifications for pavement improvement on Olive <br />!Street, from Western Avenue to Washington Avenue, submitted by Wm. S. Moore, Engineer, <br />by the construction of Portland Cement Base Widening and Hot Asphaltic Concrete Re - <br />Surfacing, designated as Contract "B". ..The Clerk was directed to advertise for bids <br />'tobe open&d Monday, November 28, 1955• <br />TRAPPIC ENQINEER : <br />iThe Board then read copy of letter addressed to Traffic Signal Engineer, George • <br />Young, Indiana State Highway Department, under date of November 7, 1955, over the Sig - <br />,nature of Traffic Engineer, E. H. Miller. Engineer Miller, being present explained the <br />purpose of the letter and stated that in the event a prompt reply is not forthcoming, <br />he will make a trip to Indianapolis in an effort to expedite payment due the City for <br />:traffic signal maintenance. <br />n <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2818 — 1955 <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment roll showing the <br />award of damages and the assessment of benefits in the matter of vacation of the ALLEY <br />;WEST OF KALEY STREET from the south line of Colfax Avenue to the north line of the alley . <br />south of Colfax.Avenue, under Vacation Resolution No. 2818. i <br />In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written i <br />remonstrances were filed, the Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication of 1 <br />notices and same were found sufficient, and the Board, therefore, finds that the several it <br />lots and parcels of land have been benefited and damaged in the amounts shown on said <br />roll. The Board, therefore., decided to take final action on said assessment roll and <br />declares same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved without modification and <br />the proceedings closed, and the portion of alley vacated upon receipt of the amount of ! <br />I <br />benefit assessments from the various property owners so benefited and all proceedings <br />had! -:,,with reference to said alley vacation are hereby sustained., <br />i • <br />
