405 <br />• <br />• <br />• <br />The Board next considered and approved Supplement to Supplement No. 4, Contract <br />No. 5-A, Paschen Contractos, Inc., contractor; as recommended by the consulting engineer: <br />Consoer, Townsend and Associates. <br />!; The Board again referred to petition, dated September 19, 1955, registering <br />! complaint against burning of rubber and other refuse on the premises at 1420 South Walnut <br />Street and directed the Clerk to call upon Attorney Arthur W. Frisk for report on his <br />investigation, and advice in this matter. <br />The following S-T-O-P sign installations were approved by the Board: <br />On both sides of Elmer Street at Keller <br />On both sides of Ford Street at Lombardy, making this a <br />four-way stop <br />On both sides of Hastings Street at 25th Street. <br />An excavation Bond, in the sum of $1,000.00, was examined and approved for John <br />B. Hendricks. <br />Contractorts Bonds, each in the sum of $1,000.00, were examined by the Board <br />and approved for -the following contractors: <br />Charles V. Berta <br />Joe R. Cleland d/b/a J. R. Cleland Construction Co. <br />Constructioneers, Inc. <br />Walter Tomaszewski <br />VACATION RESOLUTTION NO. 2817 - 1955 <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment roll showing the <br />award of damages and the assessment of benefits in the matter of alley between MICHIGAN <br />AND MAIN STREETS, from the south line of Dean Street to the North line of Sherwood <br />Street, under Vacation Resolution No. 2817. <br />In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written <br />remonstrances were filed, the Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication <br />of notices and same were found sufficient, and the Board, therefore, finds that the <br />I several lots and parcels of land have been benefited and damaged in the amounts shown <br />on said roll. The Board, therefore, decided to take final action on said assessment <br />roll and declares same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved without modifi- <br />cation and the proceedings closed, and the portion of alley vacated upon receipt of <br />the amount of benefit assessments from the various property owners so benefited and <br />is all proceedings had with reference to said alley vacation are hereby sustained. <br />ENTRY OF PETITION PRESENTED <br />The Board of Public Works and Safety hereby received and placed on file the <br />petition of Frank A. Slaby and two others for the improvement of Beverley Place from <br />an existing manhole at Lot No. 36 to Lathrop Street by construction of a local combined <br />sanitary and storm sewer. <br />The petition was examined by the Board and referred to the City Engineer for <br />recommendation. The City Engineer being present, made the recommendation that the <br />petition be granted. The Board then directed the firm of Chas. W. Cole and Son to I <br />prepare general details, drawings, specifications and preliminary improvement resolution! <br />for sewer to be constructed and the firm was so notified. <br />is <br />i <br />PLANS REPORTED <br />Chas. W. Cole & Son, Civil Engineers, reported to the Board, Profiles, Drawings, <br />Plans, General Details, Specifications, Estimates and Preliminary Improvement Resolution'' <br />for the improvement of Beverley Place from an existing manhole at Lot No. 36 to Lathrop <br />Street by constructing a local combined sanitary and storm sewer. <br />The Board approved the reports and passed Improvement Resolution No. 2820, <br />authorizing these improvements and the 30th day of November, 1955, at the hour of 7:30 <br />P.M. as the time, and the office of the Board in said City as the place, when and where <br />all persons whose property may be affected by such proposed improvement, may be heard, <br />and all petitions and remonstrances, received and the Board will, on said day, decide <br />whether the benefits accruing to abutting and adjacent property, and to the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana, will be equal to or exceed the estimated cost of said improvements. <br />The Clerk of the Board is hereby ordered to give notice by two weekly publications, <br />of the time and place of hearing of this resolutions, adopted on this 7th day of <br />I,: November, 1955 and to be published on the loth day and 18th day of November, 1955- <br />
