<br />The Board next gave consideration to the improvement of LaSalle Avenue, from Hill
<br />Street to Eddy Street, and Bartlett Street, from Michigan Street to Riverside Drive,
<br />land directed that Rieth-Riley Construction Company, Inc., be notified to proceed with
<br />the laying of Type."C" Hot -Mixed, Hot -Laid, Asphaltic Concrete on these two°streets,

<br />1TRAFFIC ENGINEER:
<br />Traffic Engineer, E. H. Miller, being present, the Board entered into a 4iscussion
<br />• of the continued use of Clive Street by heavy truck traffic, and what steps might be
<br />taken to reduce and control such traffic. Petition, dated August 31, 1955, bearing
<br />!eighty signatures, in this matter, was examined by the Board. The City Attorney re-
<br />liferred to and read the statutes applying thereto; Acts of 1931, Chapter 83, Section 11,
<br />hand Acts of 1939s Chapter 48, Section 156. After a considerable period of discussion,
<br />!!the Board authorized and directed the Traffic Engineer to obtain proposals from im-
<br />1partial testing firms to run tests and determine the load -bearing capabilities of Olive
<br />I:
<br />iStreet from Sample Street to Lincolnway Nest. From the results of such tests, the
<br />;,Board will be enabled to establish specific limitations on size of trucks, weights of
<br />`loads etc, and provide routing for truck traffic banned from using Olive Street.
