<br />A regular meeting of the Board of-PublicWorks was held Monday, August 22, 1955,
<br />.at 10:00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and
<br />approved. Salary claims, in the total amount of37,788.00, were approved. Claims of

<br />ENTRY OF PETITION PRESENTED
<br />The Board of Public Works and Safety hereby receives and places on file the
<br />petition of Emmett N. Fisher and eighty -One others for the improvement of all properties;;
<br />of Bercliff Estate Addition to the City of South Bend, Indiana by constructing combined
<br />sanitary and storm sewers.
<br />The above petition was examined by the Board and referred to the City Engineer
<br />for recommendation. The City Engineer being present, made the recommendation that the
<br />petition be granted. The Board then directed that the firm of Chas. W. Cole and Son
<br />prepare general details, drawings, specifications and preliminary improvement resolution1
<br />1 for the construction of combined_ sanitary and storm sewers and the firm was so notified.
<br />PRELIMINARY PLANS REPORTED
<br />Chas. W. Cole & Son, Civil Engineers, reported to the Board profiles, Drawings, {
<br />General Details, Specifications, Estimates and preliminary Improvement Resolution for
<br />;the improvement of all properties of Bercliff Estate Addition to the City of South Bend,l
<br />Indiana, under Improvement Resolution No. 2814-
<br />The Board approved the reports and passed Imppovement Resolution, authorizing
<br />this public improvement, and the lfth day of September, 1955, at the hour of 6:30 P. M.
<br />C.S.T., is hereby fixed as the time, and the office of the Board in said City as the
<br />place, when and where all persons whose property may be affected by such proposed
<br />improvement, may be heard as to the necssity for same, and all petitions and remonstrance
<br />received and the Board will on said day decide whether the benefits accruing to abutting;
<br />and adjacent property, and to the City of South Bend, Indiana, will be equal to or exceed
<br />the estimated cost of said improvement. The Clerk of the Board is hereby ordered to give
<br />notice by two weekly publications, of the time and place of hearing of the Resolution
<br />No., 28lbr.
<br />The Board next examined and approved Grade - Curb - Pavement Plan for Corby Street;
<br />submitted by Wm. S. Moore, Engineer, dated August 15, 1955•
<br />Street Improvement Plan for Lombardy Drive from Huron Street to Western Avenue,
<br />submitted by Colpaert Realty Corporation, was examined and approved.
<br />Plans for Brookfield Street sewer from Indiana Avenue north 1411 to alley north
<br />of Indiana Avenue were approved by the Board.
<br />Plans for sewer improvement on Delano Avenue and Victory Avenue from Corby Boule-
<br />vard to MacArthur Avenue, submitted by Wilbur H. Gartner & Associates, were examined
<br />and approved by the Board.
<br />The request of the Northern Indiana Public Service Company for permission to
<br />install 2500t x 6" gasmain on Portage Avenue (Work Order No. 4406-6) was granted by the
<br />Board.
