<br />issuance of occupancy permit is based. The Board directed the Clerk to notify Cecil
<br />Black, L42 Calhoun Street, Mishawaka accordingly. These permits apply to service
<br />station plans at 3808 Western Avenue and 3010 Lincoln Way West.
<br />Then appeared before the Board Mr. Homer Short and discussion ensued pertaining
<br />sto the Eddy Street widening project, and unavoidable delay connected therewith.
<br />A petition for the improvement of 29th Street by the construction of pavement under
<br />the Barrett Law Plan, was examined and referred to the City Engineer for investigation anc
<br />'recommendation.

<br />The time now being 10:00 A. M. C.S.T., it was so announced and the Board proceeded
<br />with the opening of bids for the resurfacing of Portage Avenue, from Keller Street to
<br />:Lathrop Street, which were as follows:

<br />The above bids were taken under advisement; contract to be awarded within a few
<br />days.
<br />The Board examined a petition, dated lviiay 26, 1955, and bearing approximately one -
<br />hundred twenty-five signatures, asking for the extension of the Lincoln Way West bus
<br />service to Sheridan Avenue for the convenience of residents of Lincoln Plaza Addition,
<br />and the Clerk was directed to bring this request to the attention of the Northern Indiana!
<br />Transit, Inca, by letter.
<br />Hon. Walter C. Erler then appeared before the Board and discussed with the Board
<br />the possibility of the granting of permit to a neighborhood grocer for the use of an
<br />area in Dubail Avenue sufficient for the operation of a small merry-go-round. In the
<br />opinion of the Board such permission would be establishing a precedent, and the purpose
<br />involved being purely commercial, permit was denied.
<br />James Borrer, Deputy City Controller, being present, advised the Board upon the
<br />availability of funds for the completion of the Ironwrood Drive Bridge improvement
<br />project, and the Board thereupon, signed supplemental contract with Charles Aulm,
<br />contractor accordingly.

<br />RESOLUTION N0. 2810 - 1955
<br />For the improvement of THIRTY FIFTH STREET under Improvement Resolution No. 2810,
<br />1955, adopted June 20, 1955, from Jefferson Boulevard to 775 feet North by constructing
<br />a local sewer.
<br />After hearing all persons interested who appeared and being fully advised on the
<br />premises and the Clerk of the Board having shown proofs of publication of the notices
<br />to property owners and the same having been found sufficient, the Board decides that the
<br />,benefits to the.property liable to be assessed for said improvement are equal to the
<br />;estimated cost of the same as reported by the City Civil Engineer, therefore
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South Bend,
<br />Indiana, that Improvement Resolution No. 28103 1955, duly passed by this Board on June
<br />20, 1955, for the above improvement, be and the same is hereby in all things confirmed
<br />and the improvement is hereby ordered to be made.
