Traffic Engineer, E. H. Miller, being present,
!called attention to the fact that signs have been placed, as of Thursday, May 26th,
setting a speed limit of twenty miles per hour on Gertrude Street. Richard Geer, a
'spokesman representing"°the property -owners then mentioned the unsatisfactory drainage
isituation, and discussion centered upon this topic. It was stated that basements are
frequently flooded. City Engineer, R. S. Andrysiak, and Mr. Geer were in agreement that,
;the installation of two culverts would alleviate and probably solve this problem. The
Board was in agreement to give this matter immediate attention. Discussion then proceeded
relative to traffic conditions and the Board directed the Traffic Engineer to make an
'origin and destination survey and present this survey to the Board at an early date. The
suggestion was offered that an .ordinance be drawn up establishing Gertrude Street as a
!boulevard. It wa•s pointed out that the street surf acing is very poor and a part of this
street has no surfacing. The group of property owners present were` unanimously in favor
'of the complete surfacing of this street. An additional complaint registered by the
'group was found to be outside the city limits. Inasmuch as this involves a health
problem, and the Board having jurisdiction in such matters, it was agreed the Board would
!render definite assistance in correcting the condition, provided,,only that the property
owners affected first file a petition with the County Health Officer in the matter, and
;provide the Board with a copy of such petition.
1i
