322
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned
!at 11:15 A. M.
Attest:
Clerk
SPECIAL MEETING
April 18,.1955
A special meeting of the Board of Public Works, called for the purpose of
awarding contracts for Street Department equipment, and to consider action to be taken
in the matter of a petition from property owners on Indiana Avenue and the general
area affected by establishing East Indiana Avenue, from Miami Street to Leer Street,
as a one-way street for east -bound traffic, convened at 2:00 p.m. Board member I. A.
Hurwich was absent:
The Board first reviewed bids opened at the previous regular meeting to furnish
tractors with cutter units for the Street Department. Upon the recommendation of the
Street Commissioner, the Board contracted for one combined unit from each of the two
qualifying bidders, General Equipment & Machine Co. and the Deeds Equipment Company,
and directed that the required purchase orders -be issued accordingly.
The Board further approved the purchase of one front-end loader from General
Equipment & Machine Company for the sum of $495.00.
Traffic Engineer, E. H. Miller, being present, the Board then took up the matter
of the East Indiana Avenue property -owners petition, protesting the establishing of the
Miami to Leer Street section of this avenue for one-way traffic. An examination of
the petition indicated dissatisfaction on the part of 90% or more, of the resident
;'property owners of the area, and the Board proceeded to rescind its action of March 14,
1955 and directed the Traffic Engineer to remove one-way signs and make the necessary
readjustment of traffic signal timing.
There being no other business to be handled at this meeting, the Board adjourned
at 2:40 p.m.
Attest:
Clerk
4
0
0
.0
0
•
•
