<br />These firms, having been recommended by Consoer, Townsend & Associates, consulting 'I
<br />engineers, were, thereupon, approved as subcontractors in accord with Sollitt Construction
<br />Company's request.

<br />The Board next gave consideration to report of damage to the property of Mrs. L. G. i
<br />Kelley, caused by the necessary use of this land for temporary storage purposes in i
<br />connection with the interceptor sewer construction, and ordered the report placed in I
<br />the file pertaining to the activities of Paschen Contractors, Inc.
<br />Complaints made to Councilman Walter C. Erler, and placed before the Board by the
<br />Councilman, concerning excessive noise, intermittantly „ caused by certain installations
<br />made by the U. S. Gypsum Company within recent months, next received the attention of
<br />the Board. Councilman Erler, being present, was informed that a prompt investigation
<br />would be made in the matter with a view to abating the nuisance in question.
<br />Councilman Erler then took up with the Board, the matter of the petition filed by
<br />!residents of Indiana Avenue and adjoining area in objection to recent action of the
<br />ilBoard establishing East Indiana Avenue, from Miami Street to Leer Street a one-way
<br />!street to carry east -bound traffic. In view of the special consideration the matter
<br />(must be given, the Board decided upon a special meeting to be held at 2:00 P.M., this
<br />idate, in the office of the Board, at which time decision in the matter will be made.
<br />The Board then read a letter dated April 14, 1955, over the signature of Hon. Albert'
<br />L. Doyle of Mishawaka, in behalf of his client, The River Valley Lines, Inc., and find-
<br />ing the matter will require considerable study, deferred any action until such time as
<br />such investigation and study is completed.
<br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 28o8 - 1955
<br />R. S. Andrysiak, City Engineer, filed primary assessment roll showing the awards
<br />'damages and the assessments of benefits in the matter of vacation of LAFAYE TTE BOULEVARD
<br />1.from the north line of Farneman Avenue (now vacated) to the north line of Tasher Avenue
<br />and from the south line of Tasher Avenue to the north line of Jennings Avenue,.and from
<br />!:the south line of Jennings Avenue to the north line of Dean Street; and from the south
<br />:line of Dean Street to the north line of Sherwood Street; and from the south line of
<br />,.Sherwood Street to the north line of the first alley south of Sherwood Street, under
<br />!Vacation Resolution No. 2808.
<br />In the above named assessment roll, the Board hereby orders that it will meet in
<br />;'the City Hall at 10:00 A. M. C.S.T. on the 16th day of May, for the purpose of hearing
<br />:,and receiving remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by said vacation
<br />;;and the Board further orders that notice of said hearing, together with the amount of
<br />damages awarded and benefits assessed be addressed to the property owners by publishing
<br />..same on the 22nd day of April, on the 29th day of April, and on the 6th day of May, 1955,
<br />"in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News.
<br />The request of Precinct Committeeman Charles J. Glueckert for the use of old Hose
<br />.House No. 3, as a polling place for the May 3rd Primary Election was approved by the
<br />'Board.
<br />The request of Ward Anderson, Adjutant, South Bend Chapter No. 6, Disabled American
<br />Veterans, for change of dates for the D.A.V. Forget -Me -Not Day, from May 20 and 21st,,
<br />as originally granted, to June 3rd and 4th, was approved by the Board.
<br />The Board next read the letter of Wm. Fuerbringer, dated April llth and directed
<br />;;the Clerk to inform Mr. Fuerbringer in regard to property owners responsibilities in
<br />;regard to maintenance of sidewalk.
<br />A petition, dated April 11, 1955, calling for the improvement of the 1900, 2000,
<br />2100, and 2200 blocks of North Huey Street by the construction of sidewalk on both
<br />.sides of the street, was next examined and referred to the City Engineerts office
<br />for investigation and report.
<br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER:
<br />Traffic Engineer, E. H. Miller, being present, recommended the acceptance of the
<br />i quotation of Superior Cable Corporation for the supplying of 6000 ft. of 2-conduct6r
<br />14 ga. traffic signal cable and 1000 ft. of 7-conductor 11.E ga. traffic signal cable
<br />;'with double tracer. The Board_ granted approval and directed the Clerk to pro(reed
<br />;;with the purchase of this material.
<br />The Board approved installation of S-T-O-P sign on northwest corner of Park Avenue
<br />at Navarre Street.

<br />The Board examined and approved Excavation Bond for Millard T. Hartman in the
<br />sum of $5,000.00.
<br />Contractors Bonds, each in the sum of $1,000.00, were examined and approved for
