Morehouse representing Taxicab Drivers1Local <br />141 A.F. of L. <br />The Board then heard the appeal of Robef t W. Leazenby for the restoration of his <br />application and granting of a taxicab driver's license. Ass't. City Attorney Robt. J. <br />DuComb, being present, conducted the questioning of the applicant. Facts, not fully <br />brought forth in the applicants affidavit, were brought to light, and in view of all <br />facts disclosed, the Board denied the license. Also present at this hearing was Mr. <br />Otto. Morehouse, representing Taxicab Drivers, Local 141 AF of L. <br />j Petition, dated December 1, 1954, for the vacation of a portion of Lafayette <br />Boulevard, with corrected specific description was received by the Board and referred <br />to the Engineering Department for further consideration. <br />A petition, dated August 10, 1954, for the construction of a sewer on Falcon Street;; <br />from -a point approximately fifty feet north of Jefferson Street, to the first alley <br />is north of Western Avenue, was examined and referred to the Engineering Department for <br />further investigation. <br />The Board next examined and approved request of the Northern Indiana Public Service' <br />Company for the installation of 4124 feet of 4-inch gas main on Ironwood -Drive, between <br />Bader Street and Edison Road, including construction order showing plan of project. <br />Performance Bond, in -'the sum of $4253.05, was next examined and approved for the <br />Clark Aerial Survey Corporation, Plymouth, Michigan. <br />The Board then took note of a letter from the Fattore Company, Center Line, Michigan, <br />bearing date of March 9, 1955, advising of their.now being -in the process of assembling <br />special equipment for the repair of defective joints in intercepting sewer constructed <br />by them under Contract 1C. The Board then set the date of May 1, 1955,at which time <br />this -work must be started, or.the required reconstruction project will be turned over <br />to the bonding company, and directed such notification of final dead -line be given <br />the Fattore Company. <br />TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: <br />Then appeared before the Board, E. H. Miller, Traffic Engineer, advising that <br />investigation indicates an improvement in traffic conditions will be achieved by estab- <br />lishing East Indiana Avenue a one-way street from Miami Street to Leer Street, and has <br />his recommendation. The Board, thereupon, approved the Traffic Engineer's recommendation <br />and directed that he proceed to place this improvement in effect immediately. <br />The Board then considered the tabulation of quotations from the three awning firms <br />selected for final consideration and, being unable to arrive at a decision in the matter,: <br />deferred the awarding of contract to the next regular meeting -of the Board. <br />.Excavation Bond, in the sum of $1,000.00, was examined and approved for Bernard <br />Bartell. <br />There being no further business to come before -the Board, the meeting was adjourned <br />at 11.:30 A.
