First appeared before the Board a representative of the Whiteway Sign Company in
''the matter of remodeling of canopies at the State and Granada Theatres. Inasmuch as
;;the canopies were found to comply with requirements in projection and height, the Board
approved the proposed remodeling, including that of the vertical sign at the Granada
';Theatre.
The Board next examined and approved the Revised Plat of Broadmoor, Third Section,
• land protective covenants thereto.
i The Board then examined a remonstrance filed in opposition to petition of February
i16th, calling for the concrete -paving of alley between Adams and Wilber Streets,
;;and rescinded all previous action in this matter. j
The Board then took up the matter of quotations received to provide awnings for:
1the south windows of the offices of the City Clerk, the Board, the Press Room, the
Engineering Department and City Planning Commission. All quotations were examined and
,.the Board appointed a committee of two, the Controller and the Clerk of the Board to
lselect the awnings to be installed.
In the matter of petition requesting installati_Qn of a traffic signal at the
Ii intersection of Prairie Avenue and Olive Street, the Board took note of, its referral to.
'
,:the District Engineer of the Indiana State Highway Department, and directed the Clerk
to inform the petitioners accordingly.
STREET DEPARTMENT:
Street Commissioner, H. M. Tomlinson, being present, took up with the Board his
jjdepartmentIs need for another truck and dumpster. Funds having been appropriated to
.provide this equipment, the Board granted approval and directed the Clerk to proceed
with the required legal advertising.
Commissioner Tomlinson then brought to the Board's attention the need for installa-
tion of two man -holes on Sherman Avenue, between Van Buren Street and California Avenue
half way between the present existing manholes, and between California and Vassar Avenues,:,
:half -way between the present existing manholes, inasmuch as the distance between man-
1holes is now too great for sewer -dragging operations. The Board directed the Clerk to
,proceed to obtain proposals for such installation.
The Board next examined report on a licensed taxicab driver, bearing date of
March 6, 1955 and the signature of Sgt. E. J. Nawrocki.
In view of the facts set forth, the cancellation of license was deemed advisable,
• !'',and the Board so ordered, directing the Clerk to notify taxicab driver and the employing
::cab company accordingly.
