217 <br />• <br />0 <br />1�1 <br />• <br />0 <br />• <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 28o6 - 1954 <br />This.being the date set, hearing was had on the resolution heretofore adopted <br />by the Board of Public Works for the 'vacation of THE ALLEY NORTH OF SAMPLE STREET <br />from Carroll Street one hundred thirty-five and eight tenths feet, east to fourteen <br />feet west of lot number six in Anderson's Subdivision, under Vacation Resolution <br />No. 2-806. The Clerk of the Board having shown sufficient proofs of publication and no <br />remonstrators having appeared and no written remonstrances having been filed with the <br />Clerk, it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the said resolution be <br />finally adopted and the said alley be vacated. The Engineering Department is directed <br />to prepare an assessment roll covering the assessment of benefits and the award of <br />damages to the surrounding properties. <br />R. S. ELL TR�EET ONE HUNDRED THIRTY FIVE AND EIGHT TENTHS . <br />`E T TO U EN FEET WEST OF LOT NUIiBER SIX ANDERSONt S SUBDIVISION, <br />Resolution No. 2806. ON, under Vacations <br />In the above named assessment roll, the Board hereby orders that it will meet in tle <br />City Hall at 10:00 A. M. CST. on the 17th day of January, 1955, for the purpose of <br />hearing and receiving remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by said <br />vacation, and the Board further orders that notice of said hearing, together with the <br />amount of damages awarded and benefits assessed be addressed to the property owners by <br />publishing same on the,24th day of December, on the 31st day of December, 1954, and on <br />the 7th day of January, 1955 in the South Bend Tribune and Tri-County News. <br />The Board then reviewed the bids for the repair of the Ironwood Bridge and con- <br />curring in the recommendation made in the tabulation, submitted by Engineer, W. S. <br />Moore, awarded contract to Charles Aulm, covering Alternate No. 1, in the sum of <br />$15,662.00. The Board further directed the Clerk to issue purchase order to Charles <br />Aulm for asphaltic binder and asphaltic surfacer, at the bid price of �,"$12.75 and $12.25 <br />per ton respectively, in the total sum of $2338.00. <br />The Board next examined the complaint of W. L. Mapel, 2003 Berkeley Place, con- <br />cerning damage done to his automobile by having hit a section of displaced curbing. <br />In the opinion of the Board, I,Ir. Mapel must look to the property owner for any recourse <br />in the matter of damages in this incident. <br />The Board approved the installation of S-T-O-P signs on Arthur Street (both sides) <br />at the intersection with Sorin. <br />Excavation Bonds, each in the sum of $1,000.00, were examined and approved for <br />the following contractors: <br />0. J. Shoemaker <br />Tony Szymkowiak <br />United Heating & Plumbing Co. <br />Contractors Bonds, each in the sum of $1,000.00, were examined and approved by <br />the Board for the following: <br />William Frankfort <br />The Ohio Oil Co. <br />D.
