Vukovitz <br />46:97 Bearings Service Co. 51.34 <br />3:34 Sample Street Wrecking Co. 25.44 <br />80.00 Elgin Sweeper Co. 375.00 <br />36.o0 Indiana Bell Telephone Co. 10.04 <br />40'60 Meyeris Hardware Co. 6.14 <br />124'35 The O'Brien Corporation 76.69 <br />162.lLj_ South Bend Electric Co. 442.90 <br />22. 1�0 <br />The Board first took up the matter of leakage in the interceptor sewer, discovere <br />since removal of bulkhead between the Fattore and the Nolan sections, and it was the <br />decision of the Board to notify the Fattore Company to commence repairs not later than <br />January 11, 1955, with the stipulation that failure to heed notice will result in the <br />City taking action to have this work completed by other parties and the costs charged <br />against amounts still due the Fattore Company. <br />The Board next re-examined bids received for the painting of the Street Depart- <br />ment buildings and awarded contract to Jay W. DeLee in the total sum of $1847.04. The <br />Clerk was directed to issue purchase order to encumber funds accordingly. <br />The Board proceeded next with a review of truck bids opened at the previous <br />regular meeting and awarded contracts as follows: <br />L. 0. Gates - 3 Pick -Up Trucks <br />International Harvester Co. - 2 - 2-1/2 Ton Trucks <br />3 - 1 Ton Trucks <br />TRAFFIC DEPARTDENT: <br />Attorney Orie Parker appeared before the Board and presented a parking problern <br />at the intersection of Indiana and I:Tiami Streets, which is causing serious loss of <br />business to the merchants located at that corner. Traffic Engineer, E. H. filler, <br />being present, discussed the problem with Attorney Parker in considerable detail. City <br />Attorney, I. A. Hurwich pointed out, in this matter, the movement of traffic is of :first <br />consideration. Attorney Parker was given assurance the problem would be given an on -the <br />spot check by the Traffic Engineer, in an endeavor to remedy the situation, if any way <br />is found possible. The Board will be rendered a report of his findings and Attorney <br />Parker will be informed accordingly. <br />The Board received and examined a drawing of Survey of -Proposed Extension to <br />Sewage Treatment Plant Site, prepared by Engineer W. S. Moore, and bearing date of <br />December 1, 1954- <br />The Board next gave consideration to the parking of automobiles in the 600 block <br />South Walnut Street, and issued the following directive: <br />I The 600 block of South Walnut Street, between the railroad <br />and Ford.Street is to be posted for "NO PARKING on the West <br />Side of Street. <br />I <br />j The Board then took up the matter of Contract Supplement Nos. 3 and 4, Contract <br />lNo• 45-55-6, Santucci Construction Company, contractor, and having had the recommendation! <br />of the consulting engineers, Consoer, Townsend L Associates, the Board proceeded to grant' <br />;approval of these specific supplements as submitted. j <br />i <br />VACATION RESOLUTION 1-?O. 2805 - 1954 <br />This being the date set, hearing was had on -the resolution heretofore adopted <br />;by the Board of Public Works and Safety for the vacation of THE ALLEY SOUTH OF BROADWAY <br />from LaFayette Boulevard southwesterly and west'to-Franklin Street, under Vacation <br />Resolution No. 2805. The Clerk of the Board having shown sufficient proofs of publi- E' <br />;cation and no remonstrators having appeared and no Written remonstrances having been <br />'filed with the Clerk, it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the said <br />,resolution be finally adopted and the said alley be vacated. The Engineering Department <br />Is directed to prepare an assessment roll covering the assessment of benefits and the l <br />'award of damages to the surrounding properties: <br />R. S. Andrysiak, City Engineer, filed primary assessment -roll showing the awards <br />of damages and the assessments of benefits in the matter of the vacation of THE ALLEY <br />SOUTH OF BROADWAY from Lafayette Boulevard southw-esterly and west to Franklin Street, <br />under Vacation Resolution No. 2805. <br />In the above named assessment roll, the Board hereby orders that it will meet in. <br />the City Hall at 10:00 A. M. CST. on the 17th day of January, 1955, for the purpose of <br />hearing and receiving remonstrances from all persons interested in -or affected by said <br />vacation, and the Board further orders that notice of said hearing, together with the <br />amount of damages awarded and benefits assessed be addressed to the property owners by <br />publishing same on the-24th day of December, on the 31st day of December, 1954 and on <br />the 7th day of January, 1955 in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2806 - 1954 <br />• <br />171 <br />• <br />
