Minutes of the previous meeting were read and <br />approved. Salary claims in the amount of $35,460.34 were approved. Permission <br />was so granted. <br />I� <br />The Board next examined Sheet No- 3 of a drawing, submitted by Everett A. Jewell, j <br />Architect, for remodeling store building at 2803 So- Michigan Street, involving a two- j <br />foot canopy, and approved same with the stipulation that it complies with the Building <br />Code governing same. This was referred to the Building Commissioner for consideration. _ <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: <br />Street Commissioner, H. MI. Tomlinson, being present, asked permission to remove i <br />temporarily, for the period of the holiday season, ending January 2, 1955, the street II <br />signs at the corner of Michigan and Colfax Avenue, which have been found to interfere ' <br />with the erecting of the Christmas decorations. It being the consensus of opinion no �. <br />serious inconvenience would be incurred, the Board granted permission accordingly. <br />it <br />Commissioner Tomlinson was further granted permission to purchase the new street <br />signs required through the regular vendor, inasmuch as this will insure desired uni- <br />formity, and the purchase will not exceed the statutory limitation necessitating <br />advertisement for bids. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2804 - 1954 <br />RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA: That it is desirable to vacate the following: <br />The fourteen foot alley immediately east of and adjacent to <br />Lot No. 225 in the Third Plat of Northwest Addition, from the <br />South line of Rose Street to the first East and West alley <br />South of Rose Street <br />and <br />The seven foot alley immediately South of and adjacent to Lot <br />No. 225 in above mentioned Plat, from the East line of Cushing <br />Street, East two hundred fifty-four feet. i+ <br />Subject to easements for Public Utilities. <br />The following property may be injuriously or beneficially affected by such vacation:) <br />1 <br />Lot Numbered 225 in the Third Plat of Northwest Addition <br />Notice of this resolution shall be published on the 26th day of November and on � <br />• <br />,the 3rd day of December, 1954, in the South Bend Tribune and Tri-County News. <br />This Board, at its office in the City Hall on the 13th day of December, 1954, at <br />10:00 A.
