<br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held Monday, October 25, 1954, at:,

<br />The Board first took up the matter of agreement being entered into between the
<br />Civil City of South Bend, and the Civil City of Mishawaka, pertaining to the maintenance
<br />of the two bridges known as the Logan Street Bridge and the Ironwood Bridge. The agree- ;i
<br />11ment was signed by all members of the Board and dispatched to the Mishawaka City Hall,
<br />Hand returned within the hour, bearing signatures of three City officials, representing s
<br />Hthe Civil City of Mishawaka, thereby making the agreement effective as of this date.

<br />The Board then took up the matter of the application of Ted Marciniak for a Taxicab
<br />(License. The Controller having having refused to grant a license; the Board set a date
<br />1for hearing in the matter for 10:00 otclock, Monday, November 1, 1954, and Mr. Marciniak
<br />jwas, thereupon verbally so notified. -The Clerk was directed to give notice of hearing
<br />'''to Mr. Otto Morehouse, Indiana Cab Company and Flash Cab Company, accordingly.
<br />f The Board next considered the proposal of the Singer Manufacturing Company for the
<br />;;deeding of a strip of their property to the City and expense involved on their part
<br />for the removal of certain facilities, required for the widening of Olive Street, from
<br />iWestern Avenue to Washington Street. A counter -proposal was drawn up and is embodied
<br />in the letter of the Board, addressed to the Singer Mfg. Co., attention of Mr. Dale I.
<br />'.Parshall, this date, over the signature of the Chairman of the Board, R. S. Andrysiak.
<br />The Board next considered Contract Supplement No. 7, Contract 11-52-137 - Sollitt
<br />'Construction Company, Inc., contractor, and having been recommended by the consulting
<br />'Engineers, Consoer, Townsend & Associates, the Board accepted the supplement and affixed
<br />;their signatures thereto.
<br />The Board next directed the Clerk to incorporate in the minutes, the following
<br />R(Oblution, adopted by the Planning Commission, under date of October 21, 1954, to -wit
<br />RESOLVED WHEREAS there has been a report from the City Engineer
<br />that construction is contemplated northwest of the intersection
<br />• of Bendix Drive and Lincolnway West.
<br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Commission requests that the
<br />City Engineer investigate this matter for the purpose of assuring
<br />sufficient building line setbacks for the future widening on the
<br />west side of Bendix Drive conformance with the width of Bendix '\
<br />Drive north of Elwood avenue.
<br />A: letter was received from the City Planning Commission recommending the vacation
<br />:of Garland Road from the West line of Caroline Street to the West line of the recorded
<br />i"plat of Twyckenham Hills Addition, Section "G" to the City of South Bend, Indiana, and
<br />• (this was referred to the Engineering Department for further study.

<br />A letter was received from the City Planning Commission recommending the vacation
<br />,of part of alley running East and West between Sample and Tutt Streets, providing that
<br />°a new alley right-of-way, as an alternate outlet, is dedicated prior to vacation, The
<br />Board referred this to the Engineering Department for further study.

<br />Then appeared before the Board, Mr. E. W. Dalton, of Dalton Pontiac, Inc., request-
<br />iWing permission for the use of a mobile seXchlight in connection with the introduction of
<br />1the 1955 Pontiac models on the nights of October 28, 29, and 30th inclusive. Permission
<br />was granted with the stipulation that an experienced operator be in charge at all times
<br />i'while the searchlight is in operation.
