Gartner & Associates, j having been received and examined by the Board, in the matter of bids for the improvemen� fl of HAWTHORNE DRIVE, from the south line of lot 137 in Jefferson Heights Addition (unii - i! -recorded) to the south line of TIcKinley Avenue by constructing a local sewer in- accordance with Improvement Resolution No. 2793 and confirmed by said Board on September 13, 1954, we hereby report that we have tabulated and examined the several bids submitted to the Board on September 27, 1954 and find that the Niles Excavating Company, Niles, Michigan,! has the lowest and best bid for local sewer, and the bid was awarded to Niles P'11 Co., for the sum of < 21' 2.50 . The Board examined and approved contractor Bond in the amount of �1,000.00, for James Sherry and also American 'rheelabrator & Equipment Corporation. The Board adopted the following resolution - ;,THEREAS Wilbur H. Gartner for many years was closely associated with the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana, in the planning and supervision of construction of many public projects AND IiIJfE-REAS his professional ability and integrity as well as his personality and character were highly valued and enjoyed by the members of the Board AND WHEREAS God in his infinite wisdom has called him to his final resting place `� NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL`T.E'�D:That the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana, in the regular meeting of this date, officially and personally mourn the passing of Wilbur H. Gartner and extend sincere condolence to his wife and family. The Clerk of the Board of Public Works and Safety is directed to send a copy of this resolution to Tars. Gartner and family.
