A non -collusion affidavit <br />NILES, MICHIGAN and a certified check in <br />the amountof $100.00.-, ac c om- <br />TOTAL EXTENSION OF ITEMS ..... $2142.50 panied the bid. <br />Completion date on or before December 15, 1954. <br />The above bid was referred to the engineer for tabulation and report. <br />The Board next considered and approved agreement for engineering services to be <br />entered into between the City of South.Bend and Wilbur H. Gartner & Associates in <br />connection with the General Street Improvement Program, which hereby becomes a part <br />of these minutes: <br />THIS AGREEMENT made and entered into this 27th day of September, 1954, by and <br />between the CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, a municipal corporation, acting by and through <br />its Board of Public Works and Safety (hereinafter for convenience referred to as "City") <br />and WIILBUR H. GARTNER & ASSOCIATES, Civil Engineers of South Bend, Indiana, (hereinafter <br />for convenience referred to as "Engineers"). <br />WHEREAS, the City is contemplating a General Street Improvement Program, which <br />includes the re -surfacing or replacing of the paved roadway on various arterial streets <br />in the City, and <br />WHEREAS, the Engineers are qualified and experienced in the design and constructs <br />of pavements and the necessary appurtenances therewith and are capable of serving the <br />City in such matters. <br />j NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of certain amounts hereinafter specified to be <br />• paid to the Engineers by the City, the Engineers agree to do, at their own cost and <br />expense, all of the engineering work hereinafter specified, to the full satisfaction <br />of the Mayor of the City, its Board of Public Works and Safety and in complete fulfill- <br />ment of the legal requirements of the Ordinances and Regulations of the City and . the <br />Statutes of the State of Indiana applicable to the foregoing described work. <br />DIVISION A - Designs, Detailed Plans, Construction Drawings, Estimates of Cost, <br />Specifications and Contract Documents <br />For the preparation of complete designs, plans construction drawings, speci- <br />• <br />• <br />0 <br />" fications, estimates of cost and contract documents for all work to be done under <br />the General Street Improvement Program, as prepared under Division A, the fee will <br />i sum equal to three per cent(3%) of the estimated construction cost of the work. <br />Services to be rendered under Division A are as follows: <br />(1) The Engineers shall make all necessary field surveys, and <br />prepare complete designs, plans, profiles and specifications <br />for all improvements to be constructed under this program. <br />The streets to be so improved are to be designated and authorized <br />by the City. <br />(2) The Engineers shall prepare detailed estimates, showing the estimated <br />quantities and estimated construction costs of the various pavements <br />to be constructed, including other necessary work and appurtenances <br />essential to same. <br />(3) The Engineers shall prepare complete specifications for the various phases <br />of the work, including proposal forms, contract forms, bond forms, and <br />all other features essential to complete contract documents. <br />(4) The Engineers shall supply a reasonable number of copies of the plans and <br />specifications to the City. <br />be a <br />(5) The Engineers shall supervise the making of any test borings or test pits <br />if needed for the purpose of determining sub -grade conditions on the various <br />streets to be improved. All costs in the making of such test borings or <br />test pits are to be borne directly by the City, and are not included in the <br />Engineerst fees as herein set forth. <br />(6) The Engineers shall assist the City in interesting experienced and qualified <br />contractors in bidding on the work, and assist the City in receiving con- <br />struction bids and in the awarding of construction contracts. <br />
