<br />A revised petition, redated September 10, 1954, for the vacation of the alley
<br />between Lots 232 and 231, Sunnymede First Addition, on the North, and to the north line
<br />of Sunnymede Avenue on the South, was next examined and referred to the City Plan
<br />Commission for recommendation.

<br />Next appeared before the Board Pair. Frank R. Lupa, presenting a drawing of a proposed`
<br />!store front, involving.a canopy. The Board,examined the drawing and advised Mr. Lupa
<br />Zito consult with and obtain plans for the proposed construction from a registered architect
<br />ilwhich plans would then be examined and passed upon by the Board.

<br />Street Commissioner, H. M. Tomlinson, being present, brought to the attention of
<br />ithe Board certain sewer problems with which he is confronted. In the matter of obstruct
<br />!,lion of sewer outlets with growth of tree roots in the 1200 block of Campeau Street,
<br />,!believed by the residents to be caused by trees growing in the parkway of this street,
<br />!lit was the consensus of opinion of the Board that costs involved for the removal of such
<br />;;obstruction, nevertheless, was the responsibility of the individual property owner.
<br />Some discussion was given the matter of the departmentfs need for a new street
<br />sweeper and two pick-up trucks. It was decided the Mayor should be consulted in this
<br />matter before proceeding further in its consideration.
<br />The restoration of the protective fence along the St. Joseph River Bank on Lincoln
<br />!Nay East was again up for discussion. It was stated by Commissioner Tomlinson, the job
<br />will require seventy-seven new concrete posts. The Board decided to advertise for bids,
<br />the required advertisement to be prepared for publication on Friday, September 17, 1954-
<br />The Board's attention was tailed to discrepancy in the assignment of taxicab stand
<br />':'to Ernest Zick and, accordingly, the Board deletes minutes of previous regular meeting
<br />.pertaining thereto. It is the Boardts decision that the cabstand at the corner of
<br />''Western Avenue and Main Street be shared by Mr. lick with the Yellow Cab Company, and
<br />'the Clerk is directed to notify both parties concerned accordingly.

<br />TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT:
<br />Traffic Engineer, E, H. Miller, being present, recommended to the Board, and obtained
<br />the Board's approval for the installation of S-T-O-P signs at the following six locations:
<br />On both sides of Jefferson Boulevard at Kaley Street
<br />On all four corners of the intersection of Hilltop Drive and
<br />Ridgedale Road
<br />On both sides of Meade Street at Linden Avenue
<br />On both sides of Lafayette Boulevard at Navarre Street
<br />making this a four-way stop
<br />On both sides of 29th Street at Wall
<br />On both sides of 25th Street at Wall.
<br />On both sides of Eddy Street at LaSalle St. making °this; a 4-way Stop.
<br />The Board approved the recommendation of Traffic Engineer, E. H. Miller, for the
<br />installation of a YIELD RIGHT OF WAY sign on Manchester Drive at Corby Boulevard.
<br />A petition, dated August 31, 1954, to improve the alley in the 1100 block of
<br />!Foster Street, north from St. Vincent Street and east to west, from Foster Street to
<br />St. Joseph Street by the construction of concrete paving, was examined and referred to
<br />',City Engineer for investigation and report.
<br />ENTRY OF PETITION PRESENTED
<br />The Board of Public Works and Safety hereby receives and places on file the
<br />''Petition of Mrs. John Rush and nine others for the improvement on the ALLEY BETWEEN
<br />!MltICHIGAN STREET AND MAIN STREET by constructing a Class c, type 1, pavement from the
<br />!north line of Madison Street to the south line of Marion Street.
<br />The above petition was examined by the Board and referred to the City Engineer
<br />for investigation and recommendation. The City Engineer being present, made the
<br />recommendation that the petition be granted. The Board then directed that the firm
<br />of Wilbur H. Gartner & Associates prepare general details, drawings, specifications and
<br />preliminary improvement resolution for the above pavement improvement.
<br />PLANS REPORTED

<br />Wilbur H. Gartner & Associates, Civil Engineers, reported to the Board, Profiles,
<br />Drawings, Plans, General Details, Specifications, Estimates and the Preliminary Improve-
<br />ment Resolution for the improvement of the ALLEY BErIVEEN MICHIGAN STREET AND MAIN STREET
<br />from the north line of Madison Street to the south line of Marion Street by constructing
<br />a Class 0, Type 1, pavement.
<br />The Board approved the reports and passed Improvement Resolution, authorizing
<br />'this public improvement, and the 28th day of September, 195t1_, at the hour of 7:30 P.M.
<br />C.S.T., is hereby fixed as the time, and the office of the Board in said City as the
<br />,place, when and where all persons whose property may be affected by such proposed
<br />improvement, may be heard as to the necessity for the same, and all petitions and re-
<br />ton8trances received and the Board will, on said.day decide whether the benefits
