Minutes of the previous meeting were read <br />and approved. The Clerk g <br />was directed, upon unanimous agreement of the Board, to notify Sollitt Construction <br />'Company, Inc., that the starting date for the construction of the Sewage Treatment Plant <br />shall be April 1, 1954- <br />First appeared before the Board, Captain R. W. Wilson of the U.-S. Marine Corps, <br />!requesting permission to park a jet aircraft, mounted on a trailer, in the proximity <br />,of City Hall Court and Michigan Street, on April 4, 5, and 6th, for publicity use in <br />;'connection with a film being shown at the Palace Theatre anq indirectly to stimulate in <br />terest and the recruiting of Marines. After some discussion as to suitable location, <br />approval was given Captain Wilson for the parking of this trailer and jet aircraft <br />,immediately in front of "The Volcano" restaurant, with the understanding that this dis- <br />play is movable at all times in event of an emergency, Marine personnel being in <br />attendance. <br />Next appeared before the Board, Attorney, Joseph A. Roper, pressing for action on <br />the part of the Board in the matter of petition filed by Place & Company, for the ; <br />P Y� <br />vacating and relocation of Sorin Street, from Preston Drive to the east line of McKinley._] <br />Terrace Addition, and vacation of alley north of Lot135 and alley east of Lot 132. After <br />some discussion of the situation, the Board assured Attorney Roper, action will proceed. <br />i <br />Then appeared Mr. Walter Weber with an appeal to the Board for the granting of a <br />;taxi -cab license, as an independent operator. City Attorney, I. A. Hurwich; being <br />;present, read the ordinance governing, directed Mr. Weber to proceed to file his <br />application with the office of the City Controller, and the matter would proceed in <br />;accord with the steps outlined and directed by the municipal ordinance. <br />The Board next examined Warranty Deed from the Board of Commissioners of St. Joseph `! <br />]County conveying a certain parcel of land to the City of South Bend, for street purposes,; <br />as a continuation of South Twentieth Street. The Board directed the Clerk to proceed with <br />the recording of the deed at the County Recorderts office. <br />Upon the recommendation of the consulting engineers, Consoer, Townsend and Associate, <br />the Board approved the Engineering Department of the University of Notre Dame, as the I <br />independent laboratory for testing the concrete pipe to be furnished under Contract j <br />P-5 of the Sewage Disposal Project. The Clerk was directed to notify the Independent <br />Concrete Pipe Corporation accordingly. <br />�i <br />The Board then examined letters of Consoer, Townsend and Associates, dated March <br />;23rd and 26th, 1954, and contract documents attached thereto, pertaining to insurance <br />?'coverage, and specifically duplicate insurance certificates supplied by Santucci Con- <br />sstruction Company, Skokie, Illinois, in connection with Contract No. 6, Letters and <br />documents were ordered filed. i <br />The Board approved the recommendations of the consulting engineers, Consoer,Townsend <br />and Associates, naming the following subcontractors, in their particular specialties ' <br />for work to be incorporated in the construction of the Sewage Treatment Plant: jI <br />i <br />0.
