M. Tomlinson, Street Commissioner, being present, took up with the Board, <br />the disposition of a quantity of obsolete sewer -dragging equipment and other worn-out <br />and broken parts of Street Department equipment, which is occupying valuable space, <br />and which, in view of the tonnage involved, should be of value as junk. Board member <br />I. A. Hurwich, explained the procedure required to negotiate the sale of this type <br />of material and advised the Commissioner that the City Attorney would proceed in the <br />matter, through the Common Council,in accord with the statutes. <br />The Commissioner next called attention to the need for additional temporary <br />fencing at the land -fill. The Board requested the Commissioner to obtain not less <br />than three quotations on the quantity and type of fencing necessary for the area to be <br />protected. <br />Upon the recommendation of the Chief of Police and the City Controller, in which <br />the Board unanimously concurred, the taxicab driverts license of Al Brooks, 831 S. <br />Marietta Street, was revoked by the Board, as of this date, in compliance with Sec.39, <br />Chapter 26 of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend. <br />The Clerk was directed to notify Mr. Brooks accordingly. <br />Preparatory to applying for license, South Bend Parking Company, Inc. submitted to <br />the Board a complete.report on their new parking lot to be opened at 220 W. Wayne Street; <br />with a capacity of 105 cars. The Board examined the report and approved the proposed <br />facilities and rates. <br />The request of the Department of Public Health that the Board advertise for bids <br />to supply that department with a micro -filming machine was approved and the Clerk directE <br />to proceed with the required legal advertising. <br />An injury report, dated March 11, 1954, concerning injury sustained by E. E. <br />Boudreau of the Traffic Engineerts Department, was examined and ordered placed on file. <br />The installation of S-T-O-P signs at the intersection of St. Peter Street and <br />Madison Street was given the approval of the Board. <br />The installation of S-T-O-P signs at the intersection of Longfellow and Sunnyside, <br />making this a 4-way stop intersections, was approved by the Board. <br />Contractors Bonds, each.in the sum of $1,000.00, were examined and approved for <br />the following contractors: <br />A.
