131 <br />11 <br />• <br />• <br />0 <br />0 <br />At 11:00 ofelock the chairman of the Board announced, in compliance with legal <br />advertising, the Board would proceed with the opening of bids to provide the urgently <br />required electrical installations for the City Hall. Bids were then opened and read <br />as follows: <br />COLIP BROS., <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />A non -collusion affidavit and <br />Certified Check for $500.00 <br />accompanied the bid. <br />Rewiring as per proposal ................$1483.00 <br />Alternate Bid for replacement of circuit wiring <br />etc. as per proposal ....................03500.00 <br />BARNES ELECTRIC CO. <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />Base Bid Complete installation as per speci- <br />fications ........... $7684.00 <br />Alternate #1, same as base bid, with no renewable <br />branch circuit ............ $4140.00 <br />Alternate #2, Same as base bid with no change <br />in present rise .... .......$6,300.00. <br />This bid was not submitted on the required form, was not accompanied <br />by certified check or bidderts bond, nor non -collusion affidavit, as called for in <br />the legal advertising, and was accordingly, rejected. <br />In view of the urgency for the installation of the feeders and new branch circuit <br />panels, covered by the Contractorts Bid in the total amount of $1483.00, of the proposal <br />submitted by Colip Brothers, Inc., the Board awarded the contract to Colip Brothers,Inc., <br />and directed the Clerk to issue formal purchase order to cover. The Board does not <br />contemplate having work covered in alternate bid performed in 1954• <br />Contractorts Bond, in the sum of $1,000.00 for A. M. Jacobs, was examined and <br />approved by the Board. <br />TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: <br />Traffic Engineer, E. H. Miller, being present, recommended the installation of <br />S-T-O-P signs at the following locations, meeting with the Board's approval: <br />William Street at Indiana Avenue <br />Taylor Street at Indiana Avenue <br />Scott Street at Indiana Avenue <br />Catalpa Street at Indiana Avenue <br />Chpain Street at Indiana Avenue. <br />Traffic Engineer, E. H. Miller, then took up with the Board, the matter of estab- <br />lishing Napier Street from Chapin Street to Scott Street, as a one-way street for <br />east bond traffic only.Engineer Miller pointed out the improved traffic conditions <br />to be anticipated, and the Board proceeded to grant its approval forthwith. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned <br />at 11:40 A.
