115 <br />• <br />P� <br />• <br />• <br />0 <br />This Board, at its office in the City Hall on the 15th day of February 1954 at <br />11:00 A. M. will hear and receive remonstrances from all persons interested in or <br />affected by these proceedings. <br />Adopted this 25th day of January,1954. <br />R. S. ANDRYSIAK <br />I. A. HURWICH <br />Board of pubTlc 'Works & Safety <br />TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: <br />Traffic Engineer, E. H. Miller, being present, considerable discussion next was <br />given to matters pertaining to his department. The Engineer brought to the Boardts <br />attention the heavy flow of vehicular traffic west bound on LaSalle Avenue during -peak <br />morning and evening hours and recommended the elimination of parking and stopping on <br />the north side of LaSalle Avenue, between Hydraulic Avenue to Main Street from 6:00 A.M. <br />to 9.00 A.M. and from 3:00 P. M. to 6:00 P. M., Monday through Friday. The Board <br />approved the Engineerts recommendation. <br />The traffic regulation, being found to conflict with temporary cabstand assigned <br />to the South Bend Cab Company, the Traffic Engineer recommended their immediate <br />notification that this cabstand must be vacated during the prescribed hours, granting <br />them permission, however, to park at stand immediately prior to arrival of South Shore <br />trains and during such time as LaSalle Avenue, at this point, is temporarily blocked <br />by the unloading of passengers. The Board approved the recommendation. <br />Traffic Engineer, E. H.'Miller, recommended to the Board the installation of <br />S-T-O-P signs at the following locations, and such installation was so ordered by the <br />Board: <br />Milton Street at St. Joseph Street <br />Huron Street at Gladstone Street <br />Kemble Street at Ewing Avenue <br />Calvert Street at Kemble Avenue <br />Next appeared before the Board, Chief Electrical Inspector, Herbert Harrison, <br />bringing to the Boardts attention the urgency for certain electrical work at the City <br />Hall, specifically the locating of two main "feeders" and the proper adjusting of the <br />distribution centers to eliminate any possible fire hazard. Inspector Harrison <br />estimated the cost would be possibly as much as $3500.00. The Board directed the <br />Inspector to prepare the required specifications for the legal advertising and directed <br />the Clerk to proceed with the advertising as soon as the specifications are available. <br />Excavatorts Bond in the sum of $2000.00, binding Robert H. Hamilton and Clifford <br />Hamilton, d/b/a Hamilton Bros. Co., as principal, and Indiana Bonding and Surety Company <br />as sureties, was next examined and approved by the Board. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board,the meeting adjourned <br />at 11:00 A.
