i <br />114 <br />January 25, 1954 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held Monday, January 25, 1954, <br />at 10:00 A. M. Mr. J. A. Bickel was absent. Minutes of the previous meeting were <br />read and approved. Salary claims in the amount of $27,908.50 were approved. Claims of <br />the following suppliers, in the amount of $534.54, were approved and ordered paid: <br />Business Systems, Inc. <br />John W. Ziegler, PM. <br />15.00 <br />10.80 <br />Office Supply & Equipment Co. <br />3.82 <br />First appeared before the Board, Mrs. Carl Leippert, representing the Daughters of <br />Union Veterans, requesting permission to conduct their annual flower sale April 24th <br />on the downtown streets and at the factory gates. No conflicting funds solicitation <br />having been granted by the Board for the date indicated, the Board granted the request <br />of this organization. <br />The Board then took up the matter of the weather-stripping and repair of windows <br />of the City Hall. It was agreed that before proceeding with this work, it would first <br />be necessary to enclose with glass the switchboard operatorts station in the City Hall <br />lobby to establish, uniform regulation of the thermostat. This step was conceded to be <br />the first requirement to realize any benefit from a weather-stripping job. The Clerk <br />was directed to secure quotations from three or more contractors for the building of <br />the required glass enclosure. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2768 - 1954 <br />RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />That it is desirable to vacate the following: <br />THE FIRST ALLEY NORTH OF NORTH SIDE BOULEVARD <br />FROM ROBERTS STREETS EAST TO THE WEST LINE OF <br />THE SEVEN FOOT HALF ALLEY EAST OF ROBERTS <br />STREET. <br />The following property may be injuriously or beneficially affected by such vacation: <br />Lots Numbered 52, 53, 54, and 55, in <br />Baker and McHenryls Addition <br />Notice of this resolution shall be published on the 29th day of January and on the <br />5th day of February, 1954 in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News. <br />This Board, at its office in the City Hall on the 15th day of February 1954, at <br />11:00 A.
