<br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held Monday, October 5, 1953,
<br />Cat 10:00.A. M. All members were present. Minutes of the previoTis meeting were read and
<br />approved. Salary claims in the amount of $26,707.73 were approved. Claims of the

<br />j,Cab Association, asking to be assigned a single cab stand on Western Avenue at the ;
<br />;;location marked by Parking Meter No. 200. This location, in front of the Union Bus
<br />j'Station, where a two -cab stand is presently serving the public, the Board advised Mr.
<br />1,Gawthorpe to appear at the October 19th meeting of the Board for the general hearing
<br />i on taxicab stands, scheduled for that meeting, and in the meantime his associ ationts
<br />•
<br />request will be investigated by Traffic Engineer,E. H. Miller.';
<br />Next appeared before the Board, John A. Grabarz, Jr., Commander Post 8748, V.F.W.
<br />;'representing the Arrangements Committee for the Ernie Kovatch-Don Paul parade, per-
<br />mission for which is being asked of the Board for Friday evening, October 9th, at
<br />seven o'clock. Parade is to form on Madison Street at Michigan Street, and is to pro-
<br />ceed south to Jefferson, and thence via Jefferson and Eddy Street to School Field. i

<br />The Board then approved plan of sewer improvement for MacArthur Avenue, from center]
<br />line of Chimes Boulevard to center line of Pyle Avenue and Pyle Avenue from center line 1i
<br />of MacArthur Avenue to center line of Rockne Drive, as submitted by Wilbur H. Gartner
<br />& Associates.
<br />A letter, and petition of James R. Rasmussen, pertaining to a proposed vacation of
<br />certain footage adjoining Lot 19, William Miller's Addition, was next examined and
<br />referred by the Board, to the City Plan Commission for investigation and report.

<br />After hearing all persons interested who appeared and the Clerk of the Board
<br />of Public Works and Safety having proofs of publication of the notices to property
<br />owners and the same having been found sufficient, therefore •
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South Bend,
<br />Indiana, that the Primary or Preliminary Assessment Roll,adopted by the Board on the I)
<br />21st day of September 1953, for the improvement of SOUTH CHICAGO STREET by constructing I,
<br />a Class C cement concrete pavement be and the same is in all things confirmed.
