51 <br />C7 <br />• <br />• <br />• <br />0 <br />The Board approved the installation of S-T-O-P signs on Fellows Street at South <br />Street, making this intersection a 4-way stop. <br />A petition to vacate Oak Park Drive, from White Oak Drive to Twyckenham Drive, <br />bearing date of July 27, 1953 was examined and referred to the City Plan Commission for <br />their recommendation. <br />A report of defective and dangerous condition of the sidewalk in the 100 block <br />West Colfax Avenue, at the alleyway entrance between the Colfax Hotel and the taxi office.*, <br />was next considered by the Board, and it was deemed advisable to first notify the property <br />owner involved, verbally, by Police Officer, that the Board of Public Works and Safety <br />expects them to maintain this sidewalk in a safe condition, and requests that its repair <br />be given early attention. <br />The Board approved claim of Office Engineers, Inc., covering their Invoice #14161, <br />dated July 30, 1953, and the City of South Bend, thereby assumes one-half of the cost <br />of moving and installing safe -file purchased for the office of the Inspector of Weights <br />and Measures. <br />Application for parking lot license filed with the Board by Donald Cormican, <br />operator of Don's Sinclair Service, 406 W. LaSalle Avenue, was examined by the Board <br />;;and referred to -the office of the City Controller. <br />;I <br />3i. <br />The Board examined and ordered filed, change of price schedule, dated July 31,19531 <br />'submitted by South Bend Parking Co., Inc. <br />A petition, dated August 3, 1953, to irprove,by paving with concrete, alley between <br />!'Portage and Ashland Avenues, from Leland Avenue to Portage Court, was examined and <br />11referred to the City Engineer for investigation and report. <br />'! Excavatorts Bonds, each in the sum of1,000.00, were examined and approved by the <br />Board, for the -following firms: <br />Reed Construction Company, Inc. <br />j Riggs L, Sons Plumbing 8-, Heating Co. <br />George E. Sibley Company. <br />�i <br />Contractor's Bond, in the sum of 11,000.00, binding Ernest J. Barany, as principal, <br />.*;and Trinity Universal Insurance Company as sureties, was examined and approved by the <br />.*Board. <br />No bids were received for the removal of steel rails and ties from the pavement <br />at the intersection of Westmoor and Bendix Drive August 3rd as per legal advertisement <br />in the South Bend Tribune and Tri County News. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned <br />at 11:45 A .1J. <br />Attest: <br />
