n <br />U <br />PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS ADOPTED <br />BE IT RESOLVED, By the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, that the Profiles, Drawings, Plans, General Details, Specifications and <br />Estimates approved by this Board on the 13th day of April 1953, for the improvement <br />of NORTH ILLINOIS STREET from the south line of Washington Street to the south line <br />of Linden Avenue by constructing a Class C Pavement under Improvement Resolution No.2753 <br />AND <br />NORTH CHICAGO STREET from the south line of Washington Street to the south line of <br />Linden Avenue by constructing a Class C Pavement under Improvement Resolution No. 2752 <br />AND <br />SOUTH CHICAGO STREET from the north line of Western Avenue to.,the south line of <br />Washington Street by constructing a Class C Pavement under Improvement Resolution No. <br />275b AND <br />MISHAWAKA AVENUE from the east line of Twyckenham Drive from the west: ]line of <br />Greenlawn Avenue by constructing a Class C Type 4A Pavement under Improvement Resolution <br />No. 2749, adopted April 13, 1953 and first confirmed on May 11, 1953, and ordered placed <br />on file in the office of the Department of Public Works and Safety. <br />June 1, 1953, at the hour of 10:00 o'clock A.M. Central Standard Time, is hereby <br />fixed as the time and the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety in the City <br />Hall of this City, as the place, when and where the Board of Public Works and Safety <br />will open and consider bids for the above named improvements, provided all bids for <br />the construction of said work shall be filed in the office of the Clerk of this Board <br />before 10:00 o'clock A.M. CST of said day. Each bidder for said work shall enclose with <br />his bid a certified check, payable to the Treasurer of this City in the suWi of two and <br />one-half percent of the amount of his bid, or a bid bond for two and one-half per cent <br />of the amount of his bid, to insure the execution of this contract, if said work is <br />awarded to him. <br />The Clerk of this Board is hereby ordered, to give notice by two weekly publications <br />of the time and place, when and where bids will be received, opened and considered for <br />.the conssruction of said work. Said Clerk shall state in said notices, that each bidder <br />shall enclose viith his bid a certified check or bid bond for above named amount, to <br />insure -the execution of this contract. <br />R. Crothers <br />Clerk of the Boar <br />The final boring report for the test borings at the site of the proposed sewage <br />disposal plant, submitted by the Raymond Concrete Pile Company, under date of May 5, <br />1953, was examined and ordered filed. <br />TRAFFIC DEPARTIENT: <br />The following four-way S-T-O-P intersections were established and approved by the <br />Board: <br />Indiana Avenue and Walnut Street <br />Lafayette Boulevard and Marion Street <br />LaPorte Avenue and Colfax Avenue. <br />A request from the Common Council that the Board have Traffic Engineer, E. H. Miller <br />report to the May 25th meeting of the Council in the matter of progress made in reduction <br />of locomotive smoke nuisance on 'Nest Dunham Street, was read by the Board and Engineer <br />Miller, being present, was directed to comply with the Councilts request. <br />A memorandum directed to the Board, over the signature of the City Clerk, Mayme <br />DuMont, concerning request for STOP sign to be moved at the corner of O'Brien and <br />Humboldt Streets, was referred by the Board to _Traffic Engineer, E. H. Miller, for <br />investigation and suitable action. <br />An Excavation Bond in the StLm of $10,000.00, binding Hilton Construction Co., Inc., <br />was examined and.approved by the Board. <br />The following Contractorts Bonds, each in the sum of �1,000.00, were examined and <br />approved: <br />Gibson Construction Co., Inc. <br />Millard T.
