April 20, 1953 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held Monday, April 20, 1953, <br />at 10:00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read <br />and approved. Salary claims in the amount of $23,623.21 were approved. Co. <br />51.07 <br />99.21 <br />CONTRACTORS IMPROVMIENTS FUND: SEWER DEPARTMENT: <br />Niles Excavating Co. 351.56 Champion Corporation 136.00 <br />A petition, referred to the Board by the Common Council, for additional sewer <br />openings to carry off excessive storm water from the Twyckenham Hills area, which <br />has been causing a near -flood condition in several blocks of Ewing, Fox, Donald, <br />Bowman and Calvert Streets, was examined by the Board and placed with the City Engineer <br />for his further investigation and report. <br />A petition for the improvement of Lawton Street, from Olive to Washington, by <br />construction of concrete pavement was examined and referred to the City Engineer for <br />investigation and report. <br />A petition to improve Tuxedo Drive from the north line of Washington Avenue to <br />the south line of McKinley Avenue, by the construction of Class 110 pavement, and inclu - <br />ing curb and sidewalk where needed, was next examined by the Board and referredto the <br />City Engineer for investigation and report. <br />A progress report, under date of April 14, from Leo F. Rehm, Design Engineer of <br />the firm of Consoer , Townsend and Associates, pertaining to the Sewage Treatment Plant <br />was read by the Board and ordered filed. <br />Mr. E. L. Moore, 220 Hammond Place and Mr. John E. Bernhardt, 225 Hammond Place <br />then appeared before the Board and verbally petitioned for the repaving of their street <br />of approximately one block in length. They stated the type of paving desired was the <br />same as applied to North St. Joseph Street. City Engineer Adnrysiak and Street <br />Commissioner Tomlinson, being present, discussed the condition of the street and <br />quoted the price of $125.00 for the resealing with a complete oil and pea gravel treat- <br />ment. This offer was accepted by the petitioners and they were informed by the <br />Commissioner that the work will be done promptly with the arrival of the proper temper- <br />atures and weather conditions for this type of paving construction. <br />L <br />• <br />0 <br />
