<br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held Monday, March 23, 1953,
<br />at 10:00 A. M. Mr, G. P. Ziegler was absent. Minutes of the previous meeting and
<br />Special Meeting were read and approved. Claims of the following suppliers, in the
<br />amount of $l8,524.459 were approved and ordered paid:

<br />Confirmation of Resolution No. 2745 for the improvement of NORTH HUEY STREET
<br />from 30 feet south of the south line of Hamilton Street to 264 feet south of the south
<br />dine of Hamilton Street, by constructing a local sewer, AND
<br />For the improvement of ROBINSON STREET under Improvement Resolution No. 2746
<br />from the south line of Bowman Street to the north line of Donald Street by constructing
<br />�a Class "C" Pavement AND
<br />For the improvement of NAPOLEON BOULEVARD under Improvement Resolution No. 2747
<br />from the west line of St. Louis Boulevard to the west line of Notre Dame Avenue by
<br />constructing a Class "C" Pavement AND
<br />For the improvement of ALLEY BETWEEN ADAMS STREET AND COLLEGE STREET under
<br />!Improvement Resolution No. 2748 from the north line of Vassar Avenue to the south line
<br />lof Humboldt Street by constructing a Class "C" Type-1 Concrete Pavement.
<br />. ; BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South
<br />!Bend, Indiana, that Improvement Resolution Nos. 2745, 2746, 2747 and 2748, 1953, duly
<br />passed by this Board on February 24, 1953v for the above improvements, be and the same
<br />its hereby in all things confirmed and the improvements are hereby ordered to be made.

<br />I Change Order No. 1, Contract No.2-Bo Thos. D. Nolan, Contractor, submitted under
<br />date of March 16, 1953s by Consoer, Townsend and Associates, was next examined and
<br />,approved by the Board. This change order pertains to the placing of sandbags for
<br />!,the further strengthening of the bulkhead to avoid possibility of blowout of bulkhead
<br />' .in connection with tunneling operations, about to be commenced by the contractor.
<br />The request of Raymond A. Hoyer, local Administrator of Federal Social Security I
<br />for written advice as to the policy of the City in providing graves for veterans in j
<br />j.the City Cemetery was given consideration, and held in abeyance pending consultation
<br />1with the sexton, Clifton Engle, Ward Anderson, Adjutant Disabled American Veterans,
<br />South Bend Chapter No. 6, and Ira D. Howard, President, St. Joseph County Veterans
<br />• Graves Registration Service.
